Around a month ago, my HondaLink app suddenly stopped showing the fuel level, became unable to remote-start climate and to show the car's position, while still showing the SOC and the charging status. Since summer just started hitting hard, I wanted my remote climate working so I reached Honda and reported the issue. Someone emailed me and advised me to uninstall and reinstall the app on my phone and see if that worked. It didn't, so I emailed back to Honda, they apologized and said some case manager would be contacting me, but nothing so far. Now at some point when trying to run one of the dead functions, I got an error message stating that in order for it to work I had to switch on the telematics/data share or whatever it's called on the settings. I checked on my user manual and it mentions such a function in the menu, once under INFO and also under CLOCK, but nothing of the sort appears on my car's menu. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks!

This is a longshot, but….what state are you in?

I ask because there were reports (which I can’t confirm) that some states are requiring that telematics data be shared with, or be accessible to, car owners and/or independent repair shops. And that in response Honda was turning off some telematics at least for new car slaes to avoid having to comply.

Now, one of the states is Massachusetts, and here’s a specific thread about it. As an important counterpoint, I live in Massachusetts and (although there was a hiccup a few months ago) my telematics work just fine, including odometer, remote, climate, etc.

But something to think about as another reason, you might be having an issue. You could search for information about telematics in your state..

I had a similar experience about a year ago. It started with battery and fuel levels not showing in the app and progressed to remote climate control not working. I checked my telematics system, it has 2 fuses i think, and it was fine. I contacted hondalink support and they had me reset the head unit several times as well as deleting a reinstalling the app a few times. They tried to claim it was my cell provider but I tried two different cell providers. Eventually they discovered the problem was on their end. This whole process took about 6 months of back and forth to correct.

Finally I got an email from Honda informing me their Telematics team applied a fix for the issue I was confronting and asked me to confirm the app was working as intended. It did. The morality of the story is that when this stuff happens, it's not the phone, it's not the car, it's always something in their system. Hope they learned.
