Tesla is now in the middle of 11 straight days of stock increase the longest in is history.
Tesla is the only US automaker that isn't facing bankruptcy some like GM for the 2nd time in about a decade- and GM just got another 500 million in bailout with the ventilators, which it doesn't seem to be producing- or is not clear that it is.
Tesla is the only automaker outside of China that is really prepared for the obvious shift to EVs that is happening right now.
Tesla is the only foreign automaker doing well in the world's largest auto market China.
Tesla is further ahead on self-driving than other companies.
Did we mention that Chinese auto workers working in Shanghi make more than US auto workers? Wonder why that is, maybe GM instead of doing 25 billion in idiot stock buy backs on the backs of its workers (on their actual contributions) then rewarding them with layoffs maybe it could have paid them more or put more into the early fair retirements of hourly workers! Workers in Germany make more too. Wonder why that is? Maybe GM wouldn't be going bankrupt again if it hadn't ripped off its employees. What did people that bought GM's stock really contribute especially when it was throwing money at things like the ill-gotten stock buy backs? Maybe GM would be doing better if it could be honest for instance about its battery tech and its plans not to really build EVs even by 2026 while wrongly claiming its batteries (what LG decided to share with it) were better than Tesla's and that it actually would sell EV just to say anything like its cruise line of nonsense just to string along wall street.
It is not too late for GM to change. It should covert to full employee ownership and divest from the market. Better yet it should become an entity that no one owns and get rid of is board, execs, management, supervisors and become totally pay as you go on pensions and self-insuring- it needs to be a new kind of flexible un-owned collaborative entity that takes care of its own. Mary Barra can become a line worker on a line workers pay- don't need a union anymore either but open the same opportunity to the UAW people that Marry Barra gets. This entity won't be owned so it won't be another for profit parasite and it will still be subject to having its charter yanked- but it still needs a core social benefit aspect to its charter, it will pay its fair share of taxes, it won't be for instance using up roads and expecting the local community to absorb that in exchange for hostage jobs or accepting money from communities to move its factories in with their load of unavoidable externalities. With no more useless parasite capitalist class trying to suck the blood out of it for nothing in return (capitalists your capital with is strings is less than nothing- not even yours to begin with) it can go further and do a guaranteed annual income for the children of its retired workers making work optional for them like it is for the too often non-contributing silver spooners. Imagine a GM where everyone is treated with respect always, always trusted and valued with autonomy and where decision making is as consensus based as possible.
I'd buy a products from that entity but will never otherwise buy a product from GM again.
