Taycan 4S: A dream, over two years of problems, and still waiting for Porsche to act

If you are considering a Porsche Taycan, I would like you to know about our experience in Turkey before making your decision. I would especially appreciate hearing from owners who have been through a similar high-voltage battery repair or have escalated their case directly to Porsche AG.

In May 2024, our family bought a brand-new Taycan 4S from Doğuş Oto Maslak. Owning a Porsche had been a dream of mine since childhood. After thirty years of hard work, taking delivery of that car was supposed to be the beginning of something we could enjoy together.

Today, when I think about the car, I think about service correspondence, an expert report, and a court case.

The problems began before delivery. After the handover was delayed, we sent a formal notice through a notary on May 17, 2024. The car was delivered on May 19.

We also paid for protective film on the dealership's recommendation. Over time, it developed yellowing, fading, lifting, and deformation. Inspections that followed these problems revealed much more serious findings concerning the car itself.

A court-appointed expert's report dated January 23, 2025 recorded signs that the hood mounting hardware had been removed and refitted, paint touch-ups, corrosion on some fasteners, and evidence of work in the right front fender mounting area. The report identified latent defects in the vehicle.

Learning about the condition of a car you bought brand-new through an expert report shakes your confidence. You can no longer look at the car you were so happy to collect in quite the same way.

The court of first instance ordered replacement of the vehicle with an equivalent vehicle free of defects. The other party appealed. The proceedings are therefore ongoing, and the ruling is not yet final. Our request for a replacement predates the battery failure described below.

On August 7, 2026, we experienced a second major problem.

The Taycan was charging in our home's enclosed garage when electrical system warnings began appearing. I saw a temperature reading of approximately 63°C on the display. Repeated warnings telling me to leave the vehicle followed, and the car became completely unresponsive.

I was able to open the driver's door mechanically, but we could not get the car out of the garage. No fire occurred. Even so, I cannot forget the concern I felt for my home and family while those warnings were appearing.

Service assistance was needed to remove the vehicle. With an external 12-volt power supply, it could be moved and loaded onto a recovery truck.

The car was admitted to Porsche Center Mersin on August 8. In a service communication dated August 20, we were told that a temperature sensor fault had been found in the high-voltage battery and that battery modules 1 and 2 needed to be replaced under warranty. The vehicle was subsequently sent to Bursa for repair.

As I write this on October 15, 2026, our car is still at the service center. We have received explanations about parts coming from Germany and customs procedures. However, we still have no firm schedule for completion of the repair or a confirmed date for the return of our car.

A Macan was provided for temporary use on August 29. I later returned it voluntarily. I am grateful for the temporary vehicle support. Our expectation that the Taycan's problems and the uncertainty surrounding them will be resolved remains unchanged.

Throughout this process, I have written to Porsche in Germany repeatedly. Being told at the outset that the matter would be looked into gave me hope. Later submissions also received acknowledgments and referrals. What we still do not have is a concrete resolution that addresses the full history of our case, with someone taking responsibility for seeing it through.

I expect Porsche AG to address what has happened to this car, purchased in Turkey, with the responsibility that comes with its brand. For our family, the expert's findings on a brand-new car, the ongoing replacement proceedings, and the subsequent battery failure are parts of one long and deeply disappointing ownership experience.

There have been nights when my wife and I cried together. There are nights when I cannot sleep, wondering whether the next day will finally bring some news. From the outside, this may seem like a problem involving a car. For us, the happiness we hoped to enjoy after years of work has become something we are constantly discussing and worrying about at home.

Our experience has left me feeling that the confidence we placed in Porsche at the time of purchase has not been met with the support we expected when things went wrong. After this experience, I do not intend to buy another Porsche.

Our request is clear: a review of our case from beginning to end; a factory-new, defect-free replacement with the same specification; and a named person responsible for the case, with a concrete written plan and timeline for resolving it. We also want clear information about the current battery repair and the checks to be carried out before the car is handed back.

The expert report, court ruling, and service correspondence are available. I can share the relevant sections with personal information redacted.

Have any owners here experienced a similar battery module repair? How did the parts supply and repair process unfold? If you contacted Porsche AG directly and succeeded in having someone take responsibility for your case, I would appreciate hearing which route helped.

We never imagined that the trust we placed in Porsche would lead to this kind of wait. If our problem is resolved, I will share that outcome here just as openly.
