Woo hoo! I just got the $100 gift card today. I haven't heard a thing from Hyundai since I put down my deposit in July. I thought they'd lost my reservation or I was too far down their priority list.
No info or details, just "We truly appreciate your patience as your vehicle is being built".....also, no mention of it being in my driveway anytime soon :(

CJC, I got the same note & card, as long as I find a place with beer I'll be happy!

Identical to my email version. I wonder why some got paper? Mine was Best Buy. At least with yours you can drown your sorrows properly!
Not sure why we got it Canada Post. Yes, it's nice to have a few different restaurants to try. Some I don't think we have in BC. i.e. Marios, The Pickle Barrel, Finonn MacCool's, State and Main etc. lol

Hey, that's right. There is no mention of the "driveway" on some notices. I wonder if that subtle difference means anything? See what you've reduced us to, Hyundai. Soon we'll be reading tea leaves!

Yes a cold beer sounds good. No mention of ours being in the driveway soon either lol. We ordered in July too.

I have already slipped into a funk thinking you are getting yours before everyone else because you emailed the CEO and we didn't. LOL.

I am wondering something Mike. When we ordered in July, we were told that we would know our car was going to be built when we receive a call saying what the VIN is, and at that time we can choose to cancel or go ahead with the order. To my knowledge no one has had that kind of call. What info do you have about this? I am fine if they have started building ours without that step, but they were pretty firm that was the protocol. I know with my special order on my Ford PHEV, I was given the VIN when they started to build it and from then on I could track it on a train across the USA.
Yes that is what Hyundai are still telling the dealers

I am sure getting the impression that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. On one forum, a member just said Hyundai Canada told him there is a ship load arriving January 4th. Yet we have had no email saying that from Hyundai Canada. I will be happy if our is coming even without prior notification. lol

No, I got the pricing announcement from the internet. Hyundai finally had an actual piece of information to share with its pre-order customers (remember those "monthly updates" we were promised?) But they didn't.

Sorry for the quick follow-up but, if Hyundai is following protocol, wouldn't' some buyer somewhere have already had to have been informed of the price? We were supposed to have the chance to change our minds and get our deposit back if we did it before the car left the factory.

Here's my 'offer-to-purchase' form that I got from my Calgary AB dealer, when I dropped in to pay the $1000. deposit on August 9th. Notice the MSRP; I will probably end up with the cheapest Kona EV Ultimate in Canada . Signed by the sales mgr. 'Expected delivery date: Dec 31, 2018'. Not a peep from my dealer or Hyundai Canada.

While my dealer never actually commited to a price - and certainly not on paper! - I do recall him telling me that he believed the price would be about $42k. This was in July.

I am starting to feel really discouraged. I am normally a very upbeat person, but something just doesn't seem right. How could deliveries go so smoothly in the UK with lots of information to purchasers and cars arriving as promised on dates as promised, and then our situation turn into such a screw up? How come Hyundai Canada knows nothing about where our cars are? It is so odd. I don't envy the dealerships in dealing with Hyundai Canada.

CJC, I feel like my constant carping has chipped away at your natural optimism! Sorry. When this all started I laid aside $60K thinking that I'd have plenty to cover the all-in price. Now with the MSRP finally revealed and all the other potential charges it looks like it's going to be even more than that. A high price to pay for this kind of slow torture. I've seriously started to research Bolt LTs in case I want a more sane backup plan. Now I'm depressed too!

It is Hyundai Canada doing the chipping away lol. Maybe I will start checking out the Bolts too. I will start reading the reviews tonight.
PS Just did some Bolt reading, and it really doesn't compare with the Kona Electric.

I bet $25 that we will hear dates for our car arrivals by January 15th. If I lose I will donate the $25 to Langley Animal Protection Society. Anyone else have a guess for the date we will get notices for arrivals of our Kona's?
