I am sorry that many of you still have these long waits.

Hyundai should have announced the pricing sooner and told people to commit or forget it with or without incentives. With BC dealers missing out on sales, some of them due to the lack of sufficient Scrap-it coupons and some due to the inflated price, the excess inventory should give buyers some bargaining power and that can't be a bad thing for the people who have no choice but to wait. If they had announced prices earlier they may have been able to balance the distribution between BC and Ontario.

So while Hyundai really blows when it comes to getting this organized, I also had a down payment on the Kia Niro. The dealer still is convinced they'll have units by the end of January. In the 3 months I had a deposit with them I never heard a peep from Kia. The dealer gave me a choice of 4 colors and that was it. All of the colors were standard Niro colors. To me it looks like the 2020 Soul will be in showrooms first.

19! Unbelievable. And only one listed with the light interior. We'll, it looks like BC is going to be well supplied anyway.

Yes unbelievable as that is our dealer, and we ordered July 10th and have no date for delivery--just the vague it will be arriving the first week of February.

Go get the grey one with white interior.
I will eat my hat if they have 19 Kona EV's in stock. That is the tiniest dealership around and they would not be able to have many on their lot. I just spoke with the dealership a few days ago and got my February ship remark. However, I will take a boo at that website. Something seems fishy to me.

Site says they''e there. the specs and details listed are all over the place though. The grey care is the only one with photos so I think it's definitely there.

I am so peeved with the whole thing that my mind is uncertain about what to do now. I am even thinking of going Niro EV and starting somewhere new that I don't have bad feelings about. Not really sure what I am doing.

This is really disappointing, you have been such a solid supporter, it’s ridiculous that Hyundai didn’t manage the deposit list better than this. Clearly someone in B.C. with a July deposit should at the very least know when it’s going to be available. Has your dealer had any deliveries?

Ridiculous is the perfect word as in "worthy of ridicule". I believe that business schools could use this Canadian roll-out as a case study in how to do things absolutely wrong.

I just feel tired of the whole thing. Every bit of information we have had has been squeezed out by me pestering them, and asking. Nothing has been volunteered. Every time I ask when it will be here I get a different answer. I have this image of acres of cars already arrived and chaos with a bunch of buffoons trying to sort out which car goes to whom. They have taken the joy out of the experience. My husband is asking me if I am calling to cancel as we have the charging installation booked and put down a $1100 deposit. The whole thing has turned into a disappointment. Do I trust that they will address any major problems that may arise? No, I don't and that isn't good. One thing that really gets to me is lack of any support or efforts at good public relationships from the dealer. To me it is a given that Hyundai Canada is a disorganized mess concerning the Kona EV. But it is unfathomable how no weekly updates or attempts at good will are coming from the dealers for those that have waited for months. Obviously money is their interest and not the purchaser. I think I need a break from even thinking about Kona as it just stirs up angst for me. Since my husband threw out the charger deposit issue, I guess I will go ahead with the deal, but it's highly unlikely I will stay with the current dealership for servicing.

This is deeply unfortunate. It pains me to here the enthusiasm you so clearly have being drained away. I wish Hyundai knew (or showed) that they cared about such things. I hold your dealer culpable too. They clearly aren't trying very hard either.

I feel your pain. I now have mine, but the whole process is definitely flawed. One good thing is you only need annual servicing, and thats just lubing and rotating tires, etc. that any dealer can do. They will try to talk you into semi-annual servicing, but just say no. You will only need the dealer for software updates, which will probably be annually.

Hyundai's Customer Service rep told me yesterday that my car was in port and would arrive in two to three weeks. My dealer called today and said the car was in port and would arrive around Feb. 20th? His question mark, not mine. That'll be more than 8 months. I also asked the rep to pass along my disappointment about this process to management. She said sorry and that someone from Hyundai or the dealership would be in touch. I'm holding my breath starting now. Wish me luck!

Sounds like Feb.20th may be about when it arrives. I am hoping that it is in your hands on Valentine's Day. lol

In the middle of January I was told 2-3 weeks and it arrived 5 days later, so deliveries are all over the place.

So, here's perhaps a precautionary tale for anyone still awaiting delivery/VIN information. I will apologize in advance if this runs long. It's been a very frustrating couple of days.

SO - I was told by my dealer that "within 3 weeks" I would have my car. Week one - silence. No problem that's to be expected. Week two - silence. Odd, I thought I'd have a VIN or at least a text from my dealer saying that it'll be here on X day. This upcoming Monday will be exactly 3 weeks from when my dealer told me my vehicle would be in. I messaged her yesterday for more information. She replied promptly that there have been no updates, no information and they have received no vehicles for any of their orders. So I asked when I could expect my vehicle, to which she replied "It could be a while.." Keep in mind - I was completely open to colours so my order was submitted without any selection and therefore no VIN was ever assigned.

So I was a little disappointed. I had a trade in with an agreed-upon value on the line and I asked her if the vehicle took another month to arrive whether Hyundai would still honour the trade in value they'd appraised. She said she would have to speak with her manager. I called 3 local Hyundai dealerships within a 30 minute drive of my house. One had 5 units coming in on the 28th, 3 of which had been sold and 2 of which were canceled orders. The manager was happy to sell me one as they had no other orders on their books. The other had 3 coming in the first week of Feb, 2 of which were sold and one that was canceled. Again, he would be happy to sell me the canceled order if I wanted it. The third dealership I called had received 5 units already, 3 of which were sold, 2 of which were canceled orders that they decided to keep anyway. As the sales person was on the phone with me, one of the 2 available units were being test driven and would likely be sold. I told him I would be in tomorrow (today) to have a look.

I immediately texted my original sales person and told her to cancel my order because I'd found one available for sale TODAY. A couple of hours goes by and the GM from my original dealership called my cellphone asking me where I had found one and what would it take to keep my sale. I told them I was EXTREMELY disappointed that I was able to do my sales persons job in about 5 minutes on my drive home and that I was told they would actively look for a vehicle for me. He told me he understood and would speak to the dealer principal and regional manager in the morning to discuss our options. I told him I wouldn't make any decisions until I heard from him.

At midnight that same evening, I got a text stating that he had been on the phone with the dealer principal as well as the regional manager for the last few hours and that they show no available stock at any dealership in Ontario and that what I had been told was a lie because dealers are mandated to send all unsold stock or canceled orders BACK to Hyundai so that they could continue to fulfil confirmed orders.

I messaged him back this morning stating that I would tell him if it was true or not when I arrived at the dealership. I got to the dealership a couple of hours later and sure enough - there was the beautiful red Kona electric fully charged and ready for my test drive as promised. I told the GM of that dealership what my initial dealer had told me and he said he had never heard of that and that the vehicle available for sale within their stock system. So I test drove the car, canceled my sale at the initial dealer and signed with the new dealer. They were completely honest, honoured my initial trade-in value even though I had another 3,000 km on the vehicle and gave me a decent deal on all weather mats, cargo tray and tint.

When I canceled the original deal, the GM was livid and said that whatever dealership I was at (never told him) would face consequences for not following the rules. I told him that his regional manager didn't give him correct information because I physically sat in and drove a vehicle that he told me "didn't exist".

Moral of the story. DO NOT wait for your dealer to find you a car if you don't have one allocated to you yet. Do your own search, call around and if you find one but want to maintain a relationship with your dealer - tell them where it is and to bring it in for you. I would have done that with my dealership but they told me the vehicle didn't exist and that the dealership I was talking to was lying to me.

On a more positive note - I'm the proud new owner of a 2019 Kona Electric - delivery scheduled for this coming Monday!
We'll, Brennan? It's Wednesday. What happened? Where's your joyous review? What's up?
