I plugged my car into level 1 (10 amp) charging on Friday evening at 61%, with it hitting 100% about an hour earlier than predicted (by the app) on Saturday morning. It has since sat undisturbed in our garage, which at this time of year stays at a family constant temperature. Yet, the range estimated by the app has progressively dropped from 122 to 121 to 119 to (just now) 118 miles. The only explanation that I can come up with is that the battery has been gradually cooling off over this time period.
If I now pre-condition the passenger compartment, will that both draw down the battery enough and warm it to recover some of the "lost" range? Inquiring minds want to know!
ETA: The answer, it seems, would be yes. A few minutes after initiating clinatizatiom, the SOC has dropped to 99%, charging has been initiated, and estimated range has increased to 119 miles, presumably due to warming of the battery.
Now the next question: will the app see this as one charging session, or two? (I did briefly unplug then plug back in earlier today, to see if that would result in stuffing more electrons into the battery pack, but it did not, nor did it show up as another charging session.
