I believe that most manufacturers specify greater range for their EVs when smaller wheel options are selected. Wheel-selection forces customers to choose between greater range and perceived appearance (and, perhaps, slightly increased grip due to a larger ground-contact patch). Another benefit of smaller wheels is that replacement tires are usually less expensive.

For my MINI, I have two sets of wheels wearing the same type of tires. The greater sidewall height of the tires for my 16-inch wheels vs my 17-inch wheels makes for a much more comfortable ride through my home-town's potholed streets.

I imagined a third set of wheels. Alex Issigonis designed his Mini with 10-inch wheels. Unfortunately, the scraping of the battery case on the ground would have eliminated any efficiency gains 10-inch wheels might have provided for my F56 MINI :)
