The average price of a new automobile in the US is currently $49,220: "Luxury" car pricing is generally considered to be anything in the range of $60K - $100K. Compare Aptera to other 2-seat vehicles on the market: The Mazda MX5 ranges from $30.5K to $42K while the Chevy Corvette ranges from $73.5K to $227K.

There is no comparable car, regardless of the price or the number of seats. All of the extremely patient customers for an Aptera want the most unique, most ecological statement-car ever made.

I was so glad that in 2000, when Honda sold me the first, unique, most ecological, all-aluminum, hybrid car sold in the US (the gen1 Insight), they charged me only $21K (about $40,721 in 2026 dollars) rather than the $45K (about $87,261 today) it cost on other continents. Considering its capabilities, the Aptera will be a bargain.

Last weekend, a friend gave me my first ride in a Ford Model T. Everyone who heard that clattering 4-cylinder engine turned and smiled. A few gave the car a thumbs-up. The reactions Aptera owners will get will be a benefit they obviously anticipate. There is no comparable car.
