Setting the display to be off by default

I often prefer to drive without any distraction going on in the center display, but the car insists on having it turn on whenever I start it. I've tried poking around Bimmercode but can't seem to find anything that makes the default setting "off." Am I missing something or just SOL and doomed to forever have to turn it off manually every time?

Screensaver
If no entries are made via the Central Information Display (CID), a screensaver can be displayed after an adjustable time. Via the Central Information Display (CID):
1. "My MINI"
2. "System settings"
3. "Displays"
4. "Control display"
5. "Screensaver"
6. Select the desired setting.
The setting is stored for the driver profile currently used.

My clock screensaver requres me to press the Menu button and then it appears 30 seconds later.

Well, maybe I'm going crazy, but I don't see a screensaver option anywhere:

It’s not in the current 2023 owners manual. I haven’t tried it in my car but now I don’t see the point.

I guess they removed it. I have a 2021 Signature model.

but now I don’t see the point.
The point is, the display gets a lot darker with the clock screensaver. I also don't notice the screen getting brighter and darker constantly if there is a hint of a cloud in the sky.

Because I live in the past, I greatly appreciate the ability to display the simple, analog clock. Only when I'm using Nav or playing music from my thumb drive do I keep other info displayed on the center screen.

Yeah, I would have been happy with that solution, but looks like I'm SOL on this one.

I may be a couple of gens before Z, but I actually like having multiple info streams firing at me simultaneously. I like having CarPlay set on multiscreen, with a Google Map on the left, and directions, music, and calendar items on the right.

I'm more disappointed that I didn't have anywhere to mount my CASIO digital watch on a 2021 SE. At least Lexus gives you the space to do it.
