Hey, all.
I've edited/deleted some posts above. I could move this to off-topic, but it's an important subject and one we'd like to provide a forum to discuss.

Everyone has their own political opinions, of course, and we may very strongly disagree with other's. But, I hope we can still discuss important legislation without resorting to insults or baiting.

Thanks!

I guess while I'm here, I'll also say that I'm in favor of EV incentives because they will pay off down the road in numerous ways. How to do that effectively in this political environment in a way that creates a larger uptake is the tricky part.

Goals and objectives:
  • Goal move transport to lower carbon footprint
Objectives:
  • Scale to operational carbon footprint
  • USA employment meeting Union standards
  • Encourage second ownership of low carbon vehicles
If large trucks and service vehicles have high carbon, replace them with subsidy support.

If an employer meets union pay, medical, and retirement standards, GOOD ENOUGH!

Encourage first lease with next buyer purchase.

That is a program I can support.

What you have done is fail to support your point

WE are not actually talking about heating assistance, but about EV tax credits.

I get that you would rather dispense right wing propaganda decrying assistance programs for the evil poor, but really, that is not the conversation
That you wish to create both sides of the argument is amusing, but unconvincing

Nah. I completely defended my point. You just got bent out of shape because any failures in welfare programs are blind spots to people with your view. For whatever reason, people with your perspective immediately warp any criticism of welfare into some ridiculous cartoon villain nonsense. Me not liking welfare doesn't mean that I think the poor are evil. It is solely because I don't see any of these programs actually helping the poor in the long run. My whole point is not demonstrating why I think LIHEAP doesn't help in the long run, it is demonstrating how LIHEAP gives a significant amount of direct government spending for fossil fuel - something you supposedly care about.

Yes, this thread is supposed to be about EV tax credits, but there's always some idiot who brings up oil subsidies, even though they are not relevant to the question of EV tax credits. To those people, I will always bring up LIHEAP because it is a blindspot.

Timing suggests a political bias. So where were you when the Republicans passed a massive, permanent deficit tax cut:

I am a proud, partisan Democrat and make no bones about it. I would prefer a fair tax system so corporations and executives pay the same as any office worker (i.e., eliminate the FICA maximum.)

Bob Wilson
The latest fiscal year report for LIHEAP put out by the US Department of Human & Health Services was in 2015. https://www.acf.hhs.gov/ocs/report/liheap-reports-congress
I highly doubt that any significant restructuring of the LIHEAP program with regard to how fossil fuels are funded has happened in the past 6 years. So no, my timing isn't biased. Secondly, any permanent tax cuts have no relevance on whether or not the LIHEAP program funding has been reduced or restructured.

Yes Bob, we all know that you're hyper partisan - hence your recent sperg fest on anyone who has any reasonable objections to the Paris accord. lol. Partisan politics is literally retarded because it forces a person to ignore looking at problems from multiple angles. I'm 30 and I have realized that hyper partisan analysis is flawed for years.

You win. You've killed the thread.

Time to put you on my 'Ignore' user list. Now to see if you've poisoned the forum.

How true!
Until more people realized this there will be no moving forward…..about electrical vehicles or ANY issue concerning politics.
Politicians and media are great about doing one thing and one thing only.
Dividing us!!!

Yes, but that specifically is an off topic discussion. lol
