SE track review

I'm going to have to get used to seeing on-track videos without engine noise! Not a bad thing at all, just something my brain needs to get accustomed to. ;-)

Maybe it’s because the course was so short, but I am surprised they didn’t mention any kind of battery thermal issues. I know even on some not-lengthy, albeit intense, runs around some good twisties, I have gotten some power reduction, presumably due to battery thermals.

Anyone else had heat issues on autocross or other similar driving scenarios?

Where did Gabriel get a MINI Cooper SE that could achieve 3-digit speeds? The highest number I've seen on my optimistic speedo is 95 mph.

Also, the battery isn't as low as possible because MINI could have jacked up the cabin and stuck the i3's slab-style battery underneath (see Chinese Ora Good Cat) for a lower battery location.

Earlier reviewers complained about the SE overheating its battery after a few laps on the track and reducing power by half. Perhaps the 2022 doesn't have that problem? Or did Gabriel do just 2 laps in the SE?

I wondered that as well. Downhill, perhaps? Or kph?

(What would happen if you put your foot to the floor on a long downhill? Isn't the limit to protect the motor? Even if power were cut, you might still exceed max rpm if the slope was sufficient.)

I just posted a question after that article asking if he was talking about kilometers because my SE tops out at 95 mph (indicated). I haven't tried the downhill test.

That video didn't do it for me. Something about how they shot and edited it was weird. It didn't communicate the feeling of being behind the wheel. Incidentally there are numerous i3 autocross videos on youtube that do get the point across pretty well.

Hopefully someone uploads a good video of the SE. I would love to see what it can do!

You're right, that video is terrible. Just pick a POV and stick with it!
