Kona 2023

Hello ev'rs,
As a new owner, there has been a lot to learn. I really enjoy the car, the learning has been a very good experience! I am now working on learning about the routine maintenance that I need to do. I have owned my 23 Kona for 6 months (I am the second owner) and it now has 26k km. The car runs perfectly, no errors or messages, but I need to change from winter to summer tires - I am in Canada. The dealership tells me I am due for full checkup, and doing that + tire change (my tires are on rims) will cost me $350+. And that I need to do this every 6 months. Hmm, I was of the understanding that ongoing maintenance with an ev was minimal. Reading the manual seems to show it as less. Is this normal? What experience do others have with routine service on new vehicles? I am thinking about going to the local tire shop for the tire change - is there any reason that I need to go to the dealer for that?

Nope, you can swap your tires out anywhere. Stick to the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual for recommended service AT MOST.
You might find, as I did, that yearly brake service and maintenance might be required due to low brake usage with Regen doing most of the stopping. I synced mine with my Fall tire swap so that the brakes were in top form and most lubricated for winter's salty stresses.

I'm on the west coast Victoria I got the service check done at my local garage... $100.00 plus the documentation to cover my warranty. last time I had my brakes checked on my 2019 kona they were like brand new.

Thank you, the local tire swap will do the tire swap for $50, then maybe I will plan on a brake check when I swap to snows in the fall.

Good to know, I will keep on exploring.
