Regen settings L0 L1 L2 L3

So apparently "Everybody Knows" that if you increase your automatic "Regen" setting to a higher number you will improve your range. I don't think this is true, and I can't find anything to support this idea on line. The entire premise seems totally flawed. Does anyone have any non-anecdotal evidence of any overall range improvements from turning up the 'auto-regen' setting to a higher number?

I think many are aware that inadvertent regening wastes energy since there are always losses. Auto regen does not have level adjustment (Kona, Niro), that's manual regen.

If you have experience with 3 pedal driving, engine braking will generally stop fuel injection as opposed to neutral coasting with an idle engine. This however, has very little significance if you are highway cruising as opposed to city driving.
