Refill inverter coolant

Hey all, I got the 'refill inverter coolant' warning message yesterday.
I have already had the coolant recall process carried out.
I'll be chatting with dealership today hopefully.
Maybe an air bubble that needs clearing?

Hopefully it is a simple fix, kind of sad news especially after getting the coolant already replaced.
I just changed my Kona EV replacement from an ordered 2024 Ionic5 to a 2025 MY as released info shows Hyundai is moving away from this LC coolant for good.;)

I've been getting this warning intermittently since I had the coolant changed a few weeks ago. I can see that the coolant in the lower part of the reservoir isn't completely filled. Haven't had the time to get it checked out by the dealer here in Orleans Ontario.

Just a quick update. Dealer drained and re-flushed the coolant system again. Tech said it sometimes takes a few flushes to clear out the old issue.
The message hasn't returned as yet. 'touch wood'.

Good to know. Hopefully all the old coolant is now gone and system is working as designed. Thanks for the update.

Had the dealer top up the coolant a few weeks ago and haven't had the warning since.

This has been an intermittent problem over the last year or so that the dealer (Nanaimo) has said is not of great concern. I took the car in for some regular maintenance a couple weeks ago and mentioned it again and they recommended a flush… just out of warranty now, $1700 quote. I’m not impressed. The level is definitely low. I see this is quite a big problem across many cars. Is the coolant available for purchase so I can top it up or is a full flush the only solution?

Nor would I be:eek:
Have you had a replace coolant notification crop up? Of course resetting the service date would be in order as that regular service notification may have been introduced (revised) due to the LC coolant TSB which of course would not affect you as your coolant being a 2019 MY is not due for some time yet (120K km I believe, or 10 years).
On the other hand if an error notification was displayed, the problem could be one of the pumps, rather than blockage.
Did you talk with Brody? He gave me this schedule c/w prices last year which they use as a guide. The price to change the coolant is ~ 2.5 hr labour, which is close to the 1.9 hrs allotted in the original LC coolant change TSB. The price of the regular coolant (pink) on top of the labour should not be that high, I would guess ~ $200 (or less) about 1/4 the cost of the blue stuff. I suspect it may have been an honest mistake on that quote

I was under the impression that the change to blue coolant was during 2019 so Chris might have that type.
If that were the case then it would have been changed last year under the TSB which would then indicate it was not properly done, or Lord forbid, blockage problem with the new BC2. Also not mentioned are the Kms driven which may also be a factor.

The first time I brought this up with the dealer was either just before or just after we had the ev battery recall done in March 2022. The car was at around 80K. It is now at 160.

Due for a change for sure...is the color blue or other (green or pink should be less cost than blue-by a long shot ... if applicable)?

This summer I have AGAIN been getting the refill inverter coolant error message.
I mentioned this to Hyundai before my final service but they couldnt reproduce so did nothing. Only tends to happen when the AC is on and its hot weather.
Will book it in again to get another 'flush' I guess. This will be the second time. They better not try charging me for it, as I'm now over 5 years.

Hi all, a little twist in this tale. I Went to pick up my car after getting its 3rd coolant flush last night. As they drove the car to the service area for me to pick it up, the 'inverter coolant' warning came on yet again. The head mechanic came over and said " when flushing the system doesnt work we need to replace 3 major parts' and that seems to sort this issue out for good". One part was the radiator, the other 2 I didnt hear due to traffic but I assume they relate to pumps and or battery cooling systems. I'll find out when i speak to them next.
The mechanic also mentioned the value of these 3 parts...just a quiet 24K AUD.
They will need the car for a few days once the parts come in.
Yes, all under warranty.
All because of some faulty coolant, pretty unlucky.

Maybe they'll do a nice deal on a new gen-2? There are a few other gen-1 Kona and Niro in a similar boat, reported on various forums.
