Post Warranty service check.

My 2020 Niro EV just had a check before it came out of warranty. Back up camera to be replaced. Then the recommended service. One of the reason I bought an EV was low service costs. Kia's response has been, oh **** that's where we make a lot of profit. So they have made up service to bridge the gap. $975.29 to service the cooling system and battery coolant. This one is new, since when has the air-conditioning had to have the refrigerant replaced and this is specific to EV's. The other was the Battery coolant flush. Tesla does not recommend either services. Have your dealerships been recommending air conditioning service? How often have they recommended battery coolant flush.

Yes that was my reaction. Money grab. Teslas never have the battery coolant changed. Going to look into changing coolant myself.

Update: went in to have back up camera replaced under warranty and they again pushed the air conditioning refresh. Argued That the air conditioning was used to cool the battery so was important to refresh. Anyone else had a air conditioning refresh offered.

Sorry I need to rant some more. Kia seems to be creating service.
1) There are concerns with the reduction gear failing. My dealerships solution is to double up on recommended oil changes.
2) The coolant system has issues with low coolant signals caused by particles clogging it and reducing flow. This seems to be a mismatch between coolant chemical and channels. Solution have customer pay for more coolant flushes.
3) There is a problem with the air conditioning system getting low on refrigerant. Poorly designed system if you ask me. Solution get customer to pay for refrigerant refresh.
I guess this is a win win ... for Kia. Poor engineering solved by customers service.

Our 2021 Kona ev had a recall to change the coolant because of possible contamination from the coolant's chemistry.
We had a warning on our dash about coolant level and as soon as I called the dealer about it, that’s when they told me
to bring it in for the flush and change of coolant type. I understand that his was not the a/c fluid itself,
but the antifreeze solution that cools the battery cells.

My 2019 Niro EVEX has 56K miles. I think the issue with doing extra service to make up for the relative reliability of an EV is your dealership, not Kia corporate. My dealership has been great. I have taken my car in for service regularly and never had any hint of them trying to add on unneeded service charges. My car has been relatively trouble free, with the only significant problem being that the passenger side mirror motor needed to be replaced.
