Our Florida Trip Report

But to bring the thread back some, I know you purposefully did not charge on your trip, but could you have plugged in if you wanted to?

Yes. It would have been easy, and was offered, at our overnight stops in Jacksonville Beach and Tallahassee. A little tougher, but doable, at my daughter’s apartment in Ft. Lauderdale. I carry a 25’ and a 6’ extension cords for such eventualities. And the stock charging cable, of course. Ft. Lauderdale street parking is the only place I would have been the least bit concerned about theft of the charging cord.

On a 1,600 mile trip, it would have not made a huge difference. But now that I know how the Clarity performs as a “straight” hybrid, I don’t think I’ll ever turn down a “free” charge again!

While having this option would be nice, even a 100 mile EV requires a level 2 charger. With Clarity you can get by with the provided level 1 charger. For me, that means saving another $1500.
Just FYI the top ranked (on this site) JuiceBox Pro 40A Lvl2 charger w/24ft cable is 499 at Costco.
