My SE ReX is on Hankooks summer tires /Victory spokes 16” Recently I purchased takes off from SE with exactly same settings with 3000 miles on it .in winter I can use my Subaru but on SE I would like install Nokians as they all weather tire has the mountain/snowflake symbol and SE will be my car forever it is good choice go with Nokians ? In NY is not much snow but could be 2-3 months around 40-45’F. Any advice from members with cold weather locations? I know in cold or below 45’ Hankooks are useless. Now I have 8 Hankooks summer tires.Only I bought them bc I can’t refuse a price I pay for.

Nokians are very good winter tires. I grew up a few miles from you and used tires with the snowflake for years before moving to CO, and I use tires with the snowflake here too. They will get the job done just fine. Put the on around thanksgiving, take them off around easter.

I can’t comment on the Nokians but I ran Blizzaks last winter in Colorado and have no complaints.
6 years on Blizzaks ml 500 on bmw I 3 no problems but this type of Nokians is not strictly only winter tire but all weather tire which we use to call them all season tire .

I've used Blizzaks on my previous MINIs, but now that I have Nokians I like them much more.

Cold weather and snow flake tires may have a significant impact on range. Otherwise Nokians have a good rep along with Falkins. Blizzaks are better on ice and very low temps, but may be overkill for you..

I am in the Hudson valley area and I had blizzaks on my R52 Cooper S on 15" steelies back in 2003 and they worked fine.

But the tread life of the current blizzak is known to be very short and the rolling resistance (which plays a meaningful role in EV range) is not low.

I did an in-depth research on winter tires with respect to EV application and two tires came to the top of the list in terms of traction, performance, low rolling resistance and tread life.

Nokian hakkapeliitta R5 and Michelin X ice snow.

They are both available in size 195/55R16 but Michelin has discontinued this particular size so finding replacement down the road could be challenging.

So I got the nokian hakkapeliitta R5.

The hakkapeliitta R3 (the previous generation) is constantly brought up among Tesla owners and the reviews and feedbacks are great. The R5 is the improved version of the R3.

I can't wait to try them out in the Catskills mountains this season!
