Today I discovered my least favorite thing about my Mini: the air conditioning doesn’t work when the car is plugged in and charging. I stopped to charge while waiting for someone and slowly got baked in the car. And not in the good way.

Is there some reason the A/C can’t be run while charging? I assume that compressor is running off the 12v. I just don’t get it. This makes long trips in the summer that much harder. No sitting in the (black) car while I charge. Egads. Rant over.

You can run the AC while charging, but you have to turn it on each time. I think it is called Comfort Climate. When you turn the car off you the screen gives you an option to enable it right there. If you miss that screen, it is buried somewhere in the menu.

Edit: Here is the menu to activate comfort climate. Kind of annoying that you can't just activate climate control normally.

The system can be switched on or off via the Central Information Display (CID).

1. "My MINI"
2. "Vehicle settings"
3. "Climate functions"
4. "Activate comfort climate"
5. "Activate now"
