Niro EV availability

We are looking to buy a new Leaf, but want to see the Niro, first. In March, they weren't out yet. Last week, I got an email from the dealer in Atlanta, saying one came in and was quickly sold. He's expecting 2 more, mid-April.
 
Did he tell you the pricing as I haven't seen anywhere that the pricing has been released. Are you sure he didn't mean the PHEV, not the Niro EV? If you find out pricing let us know.
 
He didn't. But if they sold one, the pricing must be out. This was at Voles Kia. Curtis, at 770-234-7800. But any dealer that will get them should have prices.
They weren't out yet, when we looked. We looked at the PHEV, just to see what the car was like.
 
I talked with them today. They got a large deposit on one that they somehow manged to get in stock. However, although it is "sold" since the car has not been released in GA yet, they cant let anyone drive it or deliver it. They don't even have the pricing yet. All you can do is go look at it and sit in it, not drive it. So the bottom line is Kia still hasn't released pricing yet and isn't delivering yet. If Curtis told you that it was already delivered he, like many car sales people, doesn't have the facts right.
 
I saw one yesterday at the Washington DC auto show. However, leave it to Kia, it wasn't exactly as advertised. The stand had the car information and model which said it was an EX Premium. However it was a base model EX, almost the same but not as many features. I had to point that out to the "product specialists" as they had no clue. One told me heard the "cars were at the ports" but who the hell really knows. There was still no pricing on the car. And the beat goes on!

I have an extensive post on the other active thread in this forum with pictures from the DC auto show, but it's been stuck in moderation for almost 24hrs. Basically, the car at the auto show appears to be some demo/mixed trim model as it has the leather seats/heated steering wheel/premium audio etc of the premium model but is missing some premium features such as the ventilated eats.
 
It didn't have ventilated seats, home link, 8 inch screen, and I'm not sure but don't think it had upgraded stereo. I think it was the base model but I you could be right, could be some sort of press demo.

My post in the other thread with the pictures finally went through. It did have the Harman Kardon premium stereo, but in any case, the car on display definitely was some strange Frankencar with mix and match options from both trims.
 
On kiamedia.com there's a countdown to the New York International Motor Show. 1:00pm 17th April. Is it a release time and announcement for the Niro EV?
 
I am from Toronto, Canada .... I drove the car on Sat, so certainly they do exist. The caveat is, depends where you live .... Strangely, this dealer has a demo (btw he could sell it to me, if I wanted to) in a market where Kia will NOT supply any vehicles to. All Niro EV's for Canada will end up in Quebec, some in BC. Clearly Kia follows the rebate trail. Ontario has none, therefore they don't expect much interest, nor do they want to start discounting anything or offering interesting lease.

This is very different ball game than the one I played with them when I bought my Soul EV from them in 2017 .... I am not interested in the Niro with no rebate and full MSRP and no great lease in sight. Just way too much money for my driving needs as far as 2nd vehicle goes. The car is good, but just not worth the dollar they are asking (it's still small size Kia CUV) ... :-(
 
mxs, curious where you saw the Niro EV in Toronto.
Perhaps if the Kia can get the Niro EV under the Canadian $45K limit to make it eligible for the Federal $5K rebate, we'll see more in Ontario?

We too are price sensitive.
 
The car (in fully loaded 64kWh trim, I believe the only one they bother to import) has MSRP 53700CAD .... so I don't see how they would get it under 45K and more importantly ... why? They can sell ever single one elsewhere at MSRP, wo why would they bother? Supply (very thin) versus demand.

Lockwood Kia in Oakville is the place ... I bought my Soul EV from them in 2017. It's a good dealer and by far the most EV's selling Kia dealer in Ontario. Charles is the guy you want to speak to, if you are interested.
 
Thanks. Sounds like it's the same situation as the Kona in Ontario.
The only way to get it close C$45K is with the base model, but only premium versions are available, which without the rebate, puts it right at the Tesla 3+ price.
In fact, last time I looked, C$53,700 was exactly the same price as a Tesla 3 Std+ with autopilot (but not self-driving and +C$1300fees + tax).
If I wanted to spend that much money, I would get the Tesla.

So that leaves the Bolt LT which may squeak under the C$45K limit. but not sure about availability. LTs with all the options are available in Ontario but are also over C$45K. HumberView Chevy has a couple for C$46K. And then there's a few used Bolts as well ...

Will have to wait and see how the Feds work their rebate. Already I see they're promising to cover the >C$50K Dodge Van made in Windsor.
 
Yeah, you will have hard time getting any EV with rebate and at least 60kWh battery. The problem is that the Kona is really small car, especially the back hatch space. Niro is a bit bigger roomier overall, means better value to me. You are right, Tesla is starting to get close, but ... it is NOT a hatch, thus loses a lot of practicality value to me. I will never buy sedan, that's the way I am and my needs are. So, sounds like I will be riding the my ICE car to the ground, hopefully by that time the market will be sorted with enough practical hatchbacks around, in an out-the-door price I can live with. Or maybe someone will offer an affordable lease, just like when I got my Soul EV.
 
The Canadian Website now has a price in Can$:
Starting MSRP: $44,995
Wonder if that's deliberately planned to get under the Fed C$45K limit?
You still can't "build&price" however. So not sure what 45K includes.
Interesting times ...
 
It's a rebate game they are playing... Because the only way they can get that low is either to sell the small battery version which they really don't intend to sell in Canada or it is the bigger battery version but base model with fabric seats and no heating anything. Again trim they don't intend to sell officially here in Canada. They will say, well it's base plus plus plus and here is your 60K car out the door to finance. It will be interesting to see whether the goverment will take the bait ...
 
They are serious in Canada in general, but not in Ontario as far as EV's are concerned at the moment.

I suggest you call an EV approved Kia dealer and see what they tell you. You will hear very different story than the Kia s website might lead you to believe.

Hint.... Why is there no reservation queu opened?
 
You have more confidence in the Dealers being in the loop than I do.
I'll just wait and see.

As noted earlier there is still no build&price on the website, nor any list of what's available in any model.
Definitely a work in progress.

This is the first mention of the Federal rebate I've seen on any website. Hopefully the Chevy Bolt will follow.
They definitely have low trim (LT) models available for sale in Toronto.
