It was a big diappointment that MINI didn't bring any of the 1,000 SE convertibles built at Plant Oxford across the ocean. Perhaps these cars couldn't pass NHTSA rollover tests?
If J03 convertible is coming to the US without a (pop-up?) roll-bar, that A-pillar will have to be able to support the entire weight of the heavy long-range batteries from the J01. Even if the J03 is 300 lbs heavier than the portly J01, I expect it will be a big sales success with a niche all its own. (The folded top on this mock-up photo doesn't look big enough to cover the whole cabin IMO.)
