New problem since 196 update: Pre-heating doesn't work on the first try

I find that the pre-conditioning does work on the first try with the app. In that the HVAC does start up and start warming/cooling the car. But the app incorrectly reports a request failure. If I send one request, wait for the failure message, then do a status update on the app, it shows that the HVAC has started. When I walk out to the car I also find that the HVAC is on.
 
You might find there is an applicable software update (for the car) but you'll have to check with your dealer.
