Hello Gang,

Just bought this beauty yesterday!

I don't see much activity regarding our nifty Escape PHEVs yet but im hoping to generate some good discussion.

First question: what is the best available level 2 charger for PHEV?

Thanks Greg
Hey @Tamale, can you tell me what the length of the charging cable is that can with the car? I am buying one as we speak.....

Hi Everyone! New to this forum, just in the process of buying an Escape PHEV Titanium
My local dealer just had an Escape PHEV Titanium come in this past week. I hope to try it out tomorrow with my wife.

My wife currently has an AWD Escape on lease that is due April 2023. We will look at the numbers and it might be worth getting out of the lease early and into the PHEV.

The only downside is that we are losing the AWD. I will still have an AWD vehicle that can become the go to vehicle during a bad snowstorm.

Hi Everyone,

The Escape was a MOSTLY easy choice for us.

First off, we can't buy a RAV4 Prime in Washington State, nor can we buy a Santa Fe Plug in, or the Tuscon Plug in when it arrives. Pacifica is unnecessary for us and the Outlander is unavailable for a while.

I could go down to Portland and buy the Rav4 or the Santa Fe, but the Portland dealers were reluctant to include the Washington State sales tax incentive which saved us $1700 off the bottom line when buying the Escape! That’s in addition to the $6800 Federal tax credit.

The top end fully loaded Escape Titanium had most everything we wanted. Would be nice to have the Rav4 HP and slightly longer range but this Escape was available at standard MSRP and we jumped on it!

The Escape comes with a nice 120v charger. No issues charging the 2 nights I’ve owned it. I got about 41 miles on one charge today to and from work.

I am still toying with the heater on electric mode. I’ll give you a report later.

Also, the City of Tacoma is offering a $600 rebate for the purchase of a level 2 charger if a 240v outlet is installed by an electrician. I’m definitely on board with that and it would be foolish to pass it up!

Thanks for the link.

Greg
Hi @Greg, can you please tell me how long the charging cable is?

Some folks do just fine using the charger (EVSE) that comes with the vehicle. Others see it differently, or have money burning a hole in their pocket.

Here is InsideEVs take on level two EVSEs.

Why did you decide to buy the Ford over the RAV prime?

Does the Ford use the gas engine for cabin heat, or does it come with an electric cabin heater?
I traded my 2013 Ford Escape for the 2022 Ford Escape PHEV because I wanted the latest safety driving options and I absolutely love the Ford Escape ride over the RAV 4. RAV 4 is too much like a truck, I like the comfort and pillow soft cloud ride.

I have a 2022 Ford Escape PHEV and so far so fun..

I got a great deal and although it only allows me to charge to 10.3 kWhs on the charge for 100% I am averaging between 37-47 MPG on the charge.

I have a level 2 ChargePoint Home 60A Charger and it is great. It saves me time and charges completely at 3.4KwH speed in about 3 hours.

Thank you,
K..
