New display audio software update

Thanks for checking your version number. I just double checked mine and it is definitely older than the available download. This web page sure looks like the download is as recent as Feb. 17 of this year. Clicking on the list of eligible vehicles for Gen 1 takes you to the page I posted above.

I used an 8 GB flash drive formatted as FAT32/Master Boot Record, and copied the DAUDIO folder (not its contents individually) to the root of the flash drive. The whole process took about 15-20 minutes. No obvious changes other than that the legalese prompt when you first turn on the car now notes that "This vehicle stores and may transmit vehicle data to Hyundai. Please visit: hyundaiusa.com/owner-privacy-policy.aspx". I have had a few issues in the past with garbled/static-y audio from CarPlay and CarPlay displaying a black screen (I think the latter may have had something to do with the sequence of plugging in the phone and putting the car in reverse), so hopefully those and any other gremlins are resolved. gonfunko, thanks for describing your procedure for installing. Interesting that you plugged in the USB drive before starting the car. I always started first, so the next step will be plugging in the flash drive first.

So, just tried plugging flash in first but still no go. I just tried calling the support number but was facing a wait time of about 30 minutes. Time to put this on the back burner.

Yes the instructions are useless. used the navigation installation program although never told to do so. Also process does not tell you what is going on just had to trust that it was working.

Well for me it added user profiles but when I set them up the units and time on the screen changed had to select guest in order to get the display to indicate proper units. Could not find how to change them back

It turns out that they Do have a New Web Site and They Are Putting out a New Software Update by the End of April (unless it is delayed again - but they assured me the end of April is their Target Date). They also said the new update does include Widgets as well as Icons. If you want to call them the phone number is 888-757-0010 which I posted previously. They are in Florida and they answer the phone M-F 6 am to 5 pm Pacific Time. Their NEW WEB SITE is at https://update.hyundai.com/US/EN/Main This is where you can check to see if your car is on the upgrade list and you can preview the new changes plus get download instructions for PC's and Mac's. If you have trouble downloading they are more than willing to help, but you have to wait until the updates are posted. To preview the new changes open the new website and click on Notifications on the left side of the page. Then click on the TITLE April 2021 Navigation Map and Software Update. Do not click on the Blue Notification Icon. Click on the Words

Well a few things have happened since I posted the above message. MapnSoft now called HyundaiAutoEver said the Software would not be available by the end of April but would be delayed until sometime in May 2021. I checked around May 5th and found that some updates to the Navigation System were available NOW while others were delayed until later in May. My Cars update was in the Available Now group. So I upgraded my System to version 141U5W. What a Mistake this was. Have you ever heard of the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Prior to this update I could use the steering wheel voice recognition button to find anything. Since the update using the words Find LA Fitness, Find Chase Bank, Find Costco or Find Target, it found None of them. I said the words over and over again, probably a 100 times over a two day period. The Navigation kept responding "Pardon, I didn't understand you, Please Try again" or "Please close your windows and try again". Responses of this nature.

Interesting fact: I knew there was a Del Taco next door to the LA Fitness I wanted to go to so I said "Find Del Taco". Low and Behold it worked. It found Del Taco. Probably was Hungry. In any event after pulling my hair out for two days I tried 3 other words that worked every time just by trying to think how the machine might be thinking, and they worked every time. These words are "Find Closest LA Fitness" or "Find Nearest LA Fitness" or "Find LA Fitness in Irvine". Yes these magic words worked for Costco, Chase Bank, Target, and "Irvine (which is a City in Orange County, Calif. for those that don't know). Instead of using the City of Irvine I said "Find LA Fitness near Disneyland" and "Find Chase Bank in Mission Viejo" (another local City) and it worked. I also said find LA Fitness in 92691 (a local zip code) and that worked. I did all of this last night as I was pulling into my garage. I am leaving the house now after the car has been parked all night and I am going to try everything again as soon as I pull out of my garage. So keep your fingers Crossed and watch this forum and I will keep you updated! Has anybody else had these same problems with the new Version 14? I called MapnServe about 30 minutes ago and told them what happened and asked if they had any calls about this, and I was told I was the 1st. (At least the person I spoke with did not have any calls. They have numerous people that answer the phones and they may have had similar calls as mine).

I am happy to report that after my car rested all night in the Garage the next morning all of my Magic Words still worked and now I can use the Navigation Find Command with confidence knowing how to work it.
 
Hope this helps, but for my Ioniq EV I had to install the Nav update first (using the Hyundai SW tool to load an SD card) and only AFTER that update could the DAUDIO update work on a USB stick.

After you installed the update DID YOUR RADIO change the way it looked?
 
I just did the NAV SW update using the updater to my PC and then xfr files to my USB flash drive (64 GB). The update process took about 50 min. after which it started updating again. I never saw a message saying "update complete". Ended up with SW Ver. 0SEV.....V005.001.201029 (prior SW was ....V004.001.200618)
 
I don't get it; I don't see any topic on this website for the NAV update. I thought the NAV update needs doing before the Audio update. I just did the NAV SW update using the Hyu NAV updater on my PC, and then I xfr files to a USB flash drive (64 GB). Then, USB flashdrive in the car; update process took about 50 min. after which it started updating again. I stopped the endless process by yanking the flash drive. I never saw a message saying "update complete". Ended up with SW Ver. 0SEV.....V005.001.201029 (prior SW Ver. was ....V004.001.200618). System seems to be working. Radio display looks very different.
 
I know first hand how f**g confusing they made this whole UPDATE process. I went thru this in dealing with a BLUELINK issue & working with the Bluelink support team. What I was told by the MapnSoft support team is that when you look in the directory of the latest download software, you'll see a file called "system_package_HMC.USA.0000.V006.001.210524.115609" ... The version is the "210524" ... and that is a Date format of yy/mm/dd -- May 24, 2021

I was ALSO told that the DAUDIO update (Feb 21) is already included in this download, so need to also download/install DAUDIO separately.

The latest Package that is downloaded (OSEV....) is the actual NAVIGATION software .. The MAP updates come in version of "NAM"..

This whole topic seems confusing. Hyundai describes a "Map update" using the "NAV updater" app. As I see my results, all of my "infotainment" displays have been "updated". I have to scroll thru all the screens to see the new layouts, and to restore a lot of settings.

All this before I do the DAUDIO update, which may really just be "improved connectivity with Blue Link" (or a lot more); not to be confused with what I might think of as the audio system.
BTW, I had SW ver.....V004... , before the map-update and that changed to .V005... , afterwards. Maybe the DAUDIO update will change the SW to ...V006... . ??
 
I had a 2020 Kona Ultimate. I loved my Radio, Climate Control, and Home Screen Widgets. I don't have time to go into all that has happened but I will try to summarize here. After 18 Months my Phone's Memory in the car would not hold my contacts. The Dealer tried his phone plus another tech's phone with the same result. The Dealer concluded the Radio Head unit had to be replaced. They replaced it. The Exterior was exactly the same. Same Color, Perfect Fit, It Looked Exactly like my original unit, ON THE OUTSIDE. But the Radio and the Climate Control were Completely Different plus the Widgets were also gone. All I had left were Home Screen Icons..

Here is a photo of my Original Radio and Home Screen. (Ignore the date - I just took this photo yesterday. I took this photo off my new 2021 Kona Ultimate which is the same system that was in my 2020 which Hyundai could not "locate" for me between December 2020 and July 2021)

Now here is what the Radio Looked like after they replaced the Radio Head Unit. (I forgot to take a photo of the radio that I was stuck with for 6 months and hated, so I found this photo on the internet listed under Hyundai Radio Images. It is close enough to make my point. This TUBE Radio was included in the Radio Head Hyundai installed in December 2020).

Looking at these two photos can you understand why I hated the Tube Style Radio! My Climate control was also changed and the Widgets were also removed plus a few other things. Now here is the Real Kicker. According to Hyundai AutoEver which used to be called MapnSoft the Navigation System that came in my 2021 Kona Ultimate is Version 13.something and is way out of date. They said it needs to be updated. I asked them one question. If I update the Navigation to the latest version will it change my Radio and Climate Control? They sent me an email stating Yes, they would also change. So I will not be updating my Navigation. Heck, all it does anyway is add a few new streets and change a few speed limits. I don't need them.

There is a lot more I can tell you but I don't have the time right now. My main message is to be careful what you update. You may be getting more than a Map Update. You may be getting a Nightmare. Hope this helps.

ckowalski check out my detailed post above how my Radio, Climate Controls Change, and Widgets changed after my Dealer installed a DIFFERENT System than I had when I brought the car in for maintenance.

Very relevant and confusing comments for this topic. Hyundai not helping. All the terms seem misleading compared to the original meanings; i.e., What is a "radio head unit" ? Anyone know what is covered by the Hyun. "SW Ver.", "Model", etc. ?
 
The Radio Head Unit is exactly that. It is where your Rado Display is, Your Navigation Display is, Your Phone Numbers and your Phone Dial Pad is plus Your Climate Control Display, Basically, Everything That You can see and Control is in your Big 10.25 Inch Screen. Unfortunately, all of the Cars Electronics or Much of it is Inside this Unit. When my Blue Tooth Phone in the Car would no longer hold my Contacts the Dealer Determined that the Memory Component for the Phone Numbers was Corrupted and no longer worked. So instead of Fixing just that part, they said the only thing they can do is Swap Out the Entire unit. Unfortunately, many other things also changed, Such as my RADIO and CLIMATE Control. See my Post with Photos about 3 posts above this one.

Because I protested this and said I wanted the Same Software I Had when I leased the car, Hyundai spent 6 months telling me they cannot find another unit -RADIO HEAD DISPLAY - like the one I had, so they said they would Buy My Car Back. They did and guess what - I leased a 2021 Hyundai Kona Ultimate, the Exact same car I had in the 2020 Model, and the 2021 Came with the Same Software and Radio, and Climate Control I originally had and wanted back and they said they could not find. How insane is this. Well, I am Very Happy. My Original Lease payment was aboyt $525 per month. My New Lease Payment is $350 per month, for 3 years instead of the 4-year lease I had with the 2020 Model. Why such a Difference? The Dealer was honest with me and said they are having a hard time selling these cars so Hyundai threw in an extra $3,000 Rebate on top of the $7500 Federal Rebate. If you do this and get the new car with the software you like, DO NOT UPDATE your NAVIGATION SYSTEM. I have an Email from Hyundai stating that the Navigation or Map Updates will Change Everything, (The Radio, The Climate Control, The Phone, etc) Not just give you a New Map. So, I am making sure I Never Update my Map or Navigation.
