Going from a portable charger to a public charger are two priced extremes. I own a Cadillac Lyriq and even though I have a 19.2kWh home charger directly wired to my electrical panel. I've found that 95% of the time my Portable Charger is all I need. Actually I prefer to use my slower Portable Charger for 3 reasons. First, although my Portable Charger does charge slow, it recharges my EV overnight just fine. Second, compared to faster charging methods, slow charging can increase the life of EV batteries. (And just the opposite is true, regular Fast Charging decreases the life of EV batteries.) And third, for me it's much easier to deal with the fairly small portable charger's charging cable than to wrestle with a monster sized heavy fast charging cable. But if you need faster home charging I suggest either calling your dealer for information on what Home Charger they recommend (it will be a 240vac charger), or check your vehicles manual. Find out how much "amperage" (or amps) the Fast Charger requires, then contact an electrician with this information and have the electrician install the appropriate sized 240vac circuit in your home. Depending on the Fast Charger's amerage requirements your electrician will either install a 240vac socket on your wall (similar to a dryer plug), or the electrician will "hard wire" a 240vac circuit directly to your electrical panel.
