Name of the dealer in GTA area for clarity

I am surprised at the difference in how this car is perceived in Canada as compared to the US. These cars are just sitting on the lots down here and you guys are on a wait list for months. It sounds like you guys have better incentives up there but it's not like there aren't any incentives for the car in the states, either.
The incentive in USA is US $ 7500 which is around C$ 10 000/ while we have $13000/- but mind you that Canadian version is inferior , we do not have power sit even in touring model even at base price for touring is C$ 44000/-
 
Well we do have a few things that the US version does not have, like battery warmer, low windshield fluid warning and I believe heat pump (still not sure about this one as in both US & Canada has it or only Canada has it or nobody has it).

With out climate, I will take the battery warmer and heat pump any day over the power seat especially in the base trim

1) Gas costs more up here.
2) The carbon footprint of using electricity is far less than in many areas of the states.
3) Rebate vs tax incentive
4) We have a battery heater to our cars as if we are colder here than in Northern Michigan or New York.
5) Our friends in Quebec probably sucked up a lot of the stock and wont sell to us. Honda itself gets a rebate if they sell X number of cars to Quebecers.
 
I wouldn't be surprised if battery heaters are mandatory up there. I think in the colder parts of the states (Minnesota, Maine, ND, etc.) there are plugs along parking spaces in cities and towns so people can plug in their cars to keep the engine heated while they are doing whatever they need to be doing. I personally have no desire to live in such a place, or even go up there to check if that is true. I lived in northern Ohio for years and that was cold enough for me.

We bought our Leaf in 2013 when gas was over $4/gallon and I thought that was going to stay like that. I was wrong, but it is probably inevitable that it will get there again and probably stay there this time.

If that $7500 was a straight rebate instead of a tax incentive the Clarity would be just as much in demand here. Most people hear incentive, don't know what that means but knows it is another tax form to fill out, and that is enough for them to stop listening and look at something else.

The $13,000 came right off the price of the car and no paper work for the buyer so YES it’s very appealing for us as Canadians living in Ontario.

Some dealers do this. Some don't.
I am paying up front and filing for my own rebate but could have shopped around and gotten a dealer to take responsibility for it if I looked harder.

Looks like Clarity stock here in Ottawa is dwindling. I wish the election was in the fall, would have been better timing for me! Hopefully things are still available in the summer and I can pull the trigger then.

I have also been wondering what happens next. If I bought one on a rebate now, I'm sure when I replace it in 8-10 years, no rebates will exist. But will PHEVs (and EVs) be more mainstream, and thus cheaper in the next 5-10 years?

I was not able to negotiate a discount from a GTA dealer, was only able to get $300 off from the protection package (MSRP $538). No clue when it will arrive :(
