My First 2025 Kona Limited Road Trip

I had to go from an area 35 miles West of Twin Falls, ID to Salt Lake City over a weekend to have my wife visit with a specialist eye clinic there on a Monday appointment. We stayed at a nice downtown hotel. The overall mileage was about 325mi. I used ABetterRouthPlanner initially to get a feel for what to expect. As it was my first time driving longer distance I decided to stop for a short bit at a Electrify America in a small town about an hour from home on that way just for the heck of it. I spent about 20 minutes charging as I started out at 100%. At 80mph I was averaging about 3.0kph power usage so I wasn't unhappy with that. I know driving below 65 or 60mph gets me closer to 4.0. So I stopped then at the mid point and charged up to 90%. I got to Salt Lake City at 35% which I was very pleased with. I dropped my wife off at the doctor office and headed to a Electrify America and spent over an hour taking it back to 100%. This time on the way home that next morning I only stopped one time, at that mid point in Snowville Utah which was a large well known truck stop that had 4 of the new GM based charging units that were 350kw rated. Ironically my car would only suck up at 52kw and as it went over 80% dropped down to 25kw. Strangely enough getting to 90% really didn't take all that long as I arrived with about 30%. I only spent about a half hour and was at 90% so drove home with that arriving home with 30%. All in all there was no need to have range anxiety. There certainl were plenty of charge options as after all, this was I-84 a rather main interstate. There were at least 4 decent options in Salt Lake but I chose the most obvious one at a Sam's Club. I must admit however, when my lease is up I'm more aimed at a Ioniq 5 with it's 800kw architecture and 20 minute 20-80% charge times. We shall see. But I'll sure say this. My Kona Limited was whisper quiet at 83mph on the interstate so we could hold a normal conversation with no raised voices and hear music easily (with it's Bose system). All in all the seat comfort was excellent as well and I have a bad back so that's saying a lot. My wife even commented on the comfort of the seats. It was a good experience. I can see no reason why one could not road trip on an interstate with this car that's for sure.

Glad that it worked out well for you. Trips in my 2025 Limited have been equally comfortable. You mention considering an Ioniq 5 as your next car. I traded in a 2023 Ioniq 6 for the Kona. The 6 (and the 5) are much bigger cars and I could barely fit the 6 in my garage. Parking the larger car was also more difficult. Great car otherwise.
