Showing my JuiceBox to my girlfriend, we found a mud dauber wasp nest on the NEMA 14-50 plug. Southern, the nest was removed but the JuiceBox 40 Pro ceased working. Closer inspection revealed the two cables were cracked at the junction with a gap large enough for wasps to get inside:

I've contacted the vendor to find out if repair is an option (aka. end of life) or some discount for replacement with a more modern unit. Happily, my spare JuiceBox 40 Pro is working.

Sealing the weather-proof box, cable access port from insects is on my list. Also, I may consider some sort of strain relief that can prevent the spare from suffering similar cable wear.

Ouch - sorry for the wear and tear! I can relate to the mud dauber intrusions here in South Carolina. Find them where you don't expect to.

Is it that the insulation cracked, or the cables just pulled free of the strain-relief connector?

I'm not sure. If the vendor says it is unrepairable (aka., end of life,) I'll take it apart and find out. My spare has significantly thicker cables and I may mount an external board with strain relief to prevent flex at the box.

So I got this note:

Mr Wilson Thank you for contacting us. As you suspected your JuiceBox is out of warranty. It had a 3 year warranty.

We do sell the Cable and handle here https://evcharging.enelx.com/store/accessories/itt-40a-25ft
Also Here is the information for EV Doctor. That is the only repair company that I know of. There may be others that you can find on a Google search however.

If you wish to purchase a new JuiceBox here https://emotorwerks.com/store/residential/adriane you can apply this coupon ... which can be used on the sale price on the JuiceBox 40 plug in.

I'll crack the case and see what is going on.
