MINI says State Vehicle Inspection needed?!

So my MINI, at its 4th year anniversary, has told me that a State Vehicle Inspection is required, along with the 2nd brake fluid exchange.

I'm trying to research what this could possibly be, and the only explanation I can come up with is that this is the Smog Check Vehicle inspection alert that normally only shows up for the gas vehicles and maybe they forgot to remove it from the electric versions.

Does anyone else know what this could be about? I'm in California.

Makes no sense to me. Even gas cars newer than eight years do not need smog check, so even a mixup with gas cars would not explain it.

I’m in CA also, interested in what you find out.

The "state inspection required" notification is just a time-based feature in the car. For an example, I live in Washington State which does not have any state inspections. I still have this interval reminder in the system (I think it was set at four years). The below link implies that the dealer is supposed to set this but I would hazard a guess that they don't really do that:

The MINI Maintenance System also includes an option to set service reminders for the
following state‑specifc mandatory vehicle inspections, including:
> Vehicle safety inspection; and/or
> Emissions test
The corresponding interval data for these inspections can be inputted into the MINI
Maintenance System by a service provider; they are not determined by the vehicle.

My SE needs an annual safety inspection here in NC. The smog check only goes as far as checking that it does not have a gas engine. Other states no doubt vary.
