MINI mystery

Went out to the the garage to take the MINI on an errand, and both windows were down, but not all the way. They were down to the point where 3 inches of glass was still up, and both windows were in the identical position. SE is always parked with windows up and doors closed and locked.

There does not appear to be any way I could have inadvertently lowered the windows with either the FOB or the APP, correct?

My concern is, if the windows can spontaneously lower while the SE is at home, could it happen while parked at the mall, work, dark alley, etc.?

Any ideas?

Well, apparently I missed that tidbit in the manual. Thanks.

Is there a way to deactivate that functionality like I did the rear hatch opening when I butt dialed the MINI?

Exactly the same as butt-dialing. I've seen my Mini(s) with both windows AND the sunroof partially open. Fortunately, never in the rain or snow.

Agreed. It would be better if the FOB buttons were slightly recessed instead of flush.

I would like to deactivate the open-car-roll-down-window functionality in the FOB and just stick with proximity detection for opening the car. I really don’t like how vulnerable the SE appears to be.

So, let’s say I am parked in that dark alley, and while dining at Guido’s I check the APP and see that the SE is now unlocked and the windows are both down, will locking the car with the APP also close the windows?

EDIT: upon closer examination, the FOB buttons actually protrude, because they are dome shaped. No wonder it is so easy to butt dial the MINI.

I just tried it. I opened the windows / sunroof with my FOB, then sent a lock command from the app. It just locked the doors and left the windows open. I think that's probably a safety feature to require FOB range (and, theoretically, visual range) when auto closing the windows.
