This is really weird and if I had to guess, it started AFTER the latest MAP Update in early December - I never saw this prior to about 3 weeks ago. What happens is I'll power up the car, I get the usual nanny "CONFIRMATION" ... Usually, when I start driving there are 2 Panels on the DISPLAY - the Left Side is MAPS. The Right side is the RADIO. (see images).
What happens occasionally now is that the Screen will go mostly DARK, with the RADIO info on the Left side superimposed over a DARK Screen that is actually what looks like a MAP with an direction arrow - and a "spinning" circle ...like it's SEARCHING for something. Sometimes I can press "MAP" button & it comes back to normal. Other times it requires a POWER OFF of the car and back ON. I actually arrived at the Service center for latest recall and it was in this mode - the guy saw it. He RESET the DISPLAY (the little right corner button) & it was fine for like 2 days, then it happened again. It seems to happen about every 3-4 trips.
Anyone else seeing this? I'm thinking it's an issue with the MAPPING SOFTWARE, but I'm really not sure. Click on the Images below for a full screen.
