Just checked upstate, NY, 10 new Clarity's within 100 miles of me. In Feb. there were 10 new Clarity's at one dealer near Albany, NY. Something is definitely different. No specials, low inventory numbers ...

Could be summer break, some kind of transition of the production line (there was earlier speculation of production in the U.S.), transition to the 2020 model year production, or it could be the end of Clarity. The last seems most likely, but I think it is still too soon to write the obituary. There would be irony, if Clarity killed the Volt, only to fail itself shortly thereafter. (I think we are a ways from BEVs replacing PHEVs, but that does not help explain why PHEVs are not selling better.)

For comparison, there are 20 new Prius Primes within 100 miles.

On the scale of world events the demise of the Clarity is probably inconsequential :-)

Still, my guess is that the Clarity will be back in 2020. I have a feeling ZEV credits will play a decisive role in their decision.

Also, while it may not be earth shattering, few would buy a car model if they knew it was going to be cancelled in its second year. For example, the Volt, whatever its virtues or lack thereof, has enough vehicles produced so as to mitigate the risk of parts outages. Not so much for the Clarity. And while the Clarity is a parts bin car- it probably has its share of unique parts.

The Clarity is too good to abandon at such a young age :-)

I'll admit that I'm picky in terms of color choice and equipment level. Not a fan of black, white or silver, leaving green or red.

For now I'm going to assume that there will be a 2020 model year for the Clarity PHEV and am going to buy an interesting interim car to give me the time to find what I want. I'm looking at a 2015 or 2017 Leaf.
Does your state have any state rebate or electric provider rebate? In CO, you can get a new 19 Leaf for less than a used 17 Leaf.
