Eh that BMS update gets you faster fast charging too, it’s a pretty good deal.
Charging speeds probably weren't one of the main goals of the BMS update. Preventing fires has got to be the #1 objective. That being said, there are a couple of things we do know about the update.
- It fixes an issue where battery cooling wasn't working, and where batteries could warm up to 50C or 120F or higher.
- It imposes new validation at startup and throws faults if any of the cell groups deviate by more than 0.1V from the others.
- It evidently does a better job of keeping the 12V battery topped up - I haven't followed that thread as closely, so I don't know how good a job this is doing now.
