Eric the biggest hit EVs get to consumption in winter is the temperature itself and precipitation. I found the difference between a dedicated snow tire and a low resistance tire is really only around 5% or less, maybe. If you get a lot of snow just get a good quality snow tire. I used Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 on my Kona EV last winter and they were great. In central Canada we have snow/ice on the roads probably for at least 5 months of the year, so not really much of option not to have dedicated snow boots for the car.
