Pretty sure on the SE it just unlocks the hatch. There's no electric openers on the SE like a 4 door would have.
 
Correct - it pops the hatch but does not raise it. So you would have a notification on the dash that the hatch is open.
 
For those wondering about titanium, I wouldn’t want that for a key fob as it gets scratched up easily and with all the metal keys etc attached…
 
I got one off eBay for the red car. It didnt go with the red car, and went on to the blue car the night i got the car. The small one is mine, and the girls use the other one which is easier to find at the bottom of their handbag.

The key is almost as hideous as the key from my Holden GTO. But in this case it is proof the the Mini is not a clown car. It is a girlie car!! ;)
 
Mine arrived last week but I got around to installing it today. It is hefty! I got the polished look as well. I might get a different one for the second fob, but my wife has shown no interest in going for a familiarization drive yet, and the second fob has been sitting in the key dish at the top of the stairs since I brought the car home. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
 
Speaking of the trunk button (a few posts back), that would be a great candidate for bimmercode reprogramming to precondition the car. Did that with my i3 alarm button. If the trunk actually fully opened on its own that might be a useful function..

I've been looking for one that says "MINI Cooper SE." The "Gold Jack" version of the one you bought almost looks like the SE's Energetic Yellow.

Thanks to OP for this idea! Picked up a cheap version from aliexpress for $5 and installed on the secondary key.

It was a struggle prying the cover off the key fob. I learned that a wider flat tipped screwdriver worked better than a small one, which marred the plastic along the slot.

Same story here. The Amazon version came with the mini screwdriver and it started to mar the plastic. I switched to a plastic spudger and found that I had to insert it much deeper than I expected, and it only released on one side, so I had to gingerly pry the cover off.

I got mine from Shapeways. It's plastic, but nice and durable while being very light. Lots of color options, so I went with yellow to match the energetic yellow bits on the car! Will post a pic later as I drove my other car today...
 
I just got a third key to use as an emergency spare and thought about getting this metal cover... but it doesn't seem that black in the photos. If anyone's seen a super black version I'd be into that.

Sort of related, I found out what happens if you try to lock your key into the boot. The car beeps a few times and the door unlatches.
