My 2023 SE keeps prompting me to replace the battery in my key fob. I replaced the battery in both keys - made sure that the batteries were good - no change. It usually occurs when I first use the car in the morning but will sometimes occur throughout the day.
Not sure if the weather could be responsible - has been brutally cold lately -14 F this AM.

My car is 4 years old now. I haven't replaced the battery in either fob. While it is now in the positive for temps, it's been brutally cold and we had no school 2 days due to it. No battery replacement notices. I do notice my fob has to be closer than before though but not sure if it's age or cold.

Make sure the key fob is near the instrument cluster when you attempt a start. If it's in your pocket or a few feet away from the start toggle, you'll get that warning. Seems to be a proximity thing.

That sounds the like behavior of a low battery, from my experience. I keep my fob in my left (driver door side) pocket, so it's not exactly near the reader. I usually have to change out the battery every two years or so.

I don't think it's a low battery issue. I only occurs if I haven't driven the Mini for more than four or five days...like the car has missed me and wants me to assure it of my presence. It loves me.
