I’m thinking the shipping will take 3-4 weeks alone so the timeline is getting tight especially considering the upcoming holidays. I chatted with a rep a few weeks ago in the mortal and they just said that my delivery timeline will be updated if they need to push it back. Otherwise, they didn’t have any other info on where my car is in line. Has anyone else seen their delivery windows change? I’m hoping that since mine hasn’t changed it will still arrive in January.

I saw somewhere in another forum that a ship is leaving Emden port on Dec. 7, Houston bound. Perhaps your car will be on that boat? Not sure where you are located but sounds like you will be getting one of the last 2021 builds like we are. We still have a Jan-Feb 22 delivery date, with car at status code 15-2 today (being built).

Hello again,

I saw today in the VW portal that my car is leaving the factory. I am not sure what ship it’s on but, hopefully, it will arrive within the next few weeks. I am in Illinois so I assume it could come in from a number of different ports. Thanks for the info and reply. Have a great weekend.

. Keep in mind that the factory is literally on the opposite side of Germany from the seaport -- nearly 400 miles from the port of Emden -- and then it ques-up behind thousands of other vehicles awaiting shipment.

HOWEVER ... since production is complete, the dealer KNOWS your VIN

The dealer can now give you MUCH more shipping and estimated arrival info from their own internal tracking systems; making the owner's portal largely irrelevant.

My own AWD spent just over 5-weeks in Germany before sail-away from Emden.

On another thread, Ericy posted a list of about 13 ships that have shipped ID4s in the past. I looked them up quickly on and it looks like there are 4 ships that are either arriving in the US soon or are in Emden to fill up with new cars. The details are below.

1. SIEM Confucius - in Emden
2. SIEM Aristotle - heading to Baltimore from Halifax (ETA 12/23)
3. Felicity Ace - heading to Halifax from Emden (ETA 12/22)
4. Mediterranean Highway - heading to Davisville from Emden (ETA 12/31)

Thank you, Ericy. I had another related question. I’ve seen on some threads that people refer to their reservation status code as a series of numbers (such as 15-2). Where did they find those numbers? I only now how to look up the wheel in the portal.

Also, I do have my VIN but still no idea if my ID4 has left or if it’s still waiting for a boat.

Hello again everyone,

Has anyone taken delivery of their ID4 recently? I am stuck at Leaving The Factory (20-1) since December 17th. Very frustrating.
 
I went 20-1 around the same time, I guess I got lucky on the docks and ended up on the Grand Aurora, which left 12/31. Just arrived in SD today and switched to 30-2.

Thanks, Tim. I actually went 20-2 yesterday so that is exciting. The RCC Prestige just left so I’m assuming my car is on that boat.

I also wanted to also post the below screenshot from a CNN article. It looks like the Felicity Ace caught fire on its way across the Atlantic. Terrible. I hope everyone onboard is okay.

Is there a code for burning in the Atlantic?

Luckily(?) mine still hasn’t even gotten to the deposit point since ordering it in November.
 
Well, I'm getting closer to taking delivery. My reservation status is currently 35-1 so it's being shipped via rail from Houston up here to the Chicago area. I came across the below article about VWGoA's shipping and logistics strategy specifically as it tries to reduce its carbon footprint over the coming years. It's an interesting read for those who are interested in cars and logistics but it also gives some interesting insights into how ID4s are shipped across the ocean and throughout the US. Enjoy.
