The most recent update has added a "pause" function to the on-screen trunk activator for M3 and MY that have powered trunk/liftgates - I suppose so that you can stop it part-way open (or closed). Today was the first time that I noticed it - I've not seen it discussed in any of the various Tesla sites...

You could always pause mid-lift using the key fob, so maybe this change just makes it obvious you can also pause mid-lift from the touch-screen, too?

From the 2020-2024 Model Y Owner's Manual:
To stop a liftgate while it is moving, single-click the rear trunk button on the key fob. Then, when you double-click the rear trunk button, it moves again, but in the opposite direction (provided it was not almost entirely open or closed when you stopped it). For example, if you single-click to stop the liftgate while opening, when you double-click, it closes.

As the fob is a $175 accessory that does not come with the 3 or Y, I don't know any 3 or Y owners who have them: I was unaware of this function. As I wrote, this is a new on-screen option.
