Co-CEO Steve Fambro introduces Aptera's new drivetrain - a single-motor, 201 HP front-wheel-drive system. The former in-wheel motor system from Elaphe will not be production-ready in time for Aptera's start of productions.

Steve also speaks about current investment offerings and explains the sequence of partial production-intent (PI) builds that are planned before a set of completed PI vehicles are created for such things as crash and environmental testing.

Whoa! This switch to using an inboard motor is a surprising change in direction after the company has been touting the advantages of in-wheel motors for so long. However, this is a good change IMO because I was disappointed with the original decision to go with in-wheel motors. In-wheel motors greatly increase the unsprung weight and are more vulnerable to road and weather damage.
