Hmmm, Toyota, Hyundai/Kia at the bottom... Again, this is customers surveying the dealers, not the car manufacturer.

37,000 dealer customers received the annual J D Power survey where they were asked to judge their experience at the respective dealer from the time they walked onto the lot to getting the keys and driving away.

Surprising the luxury brands are not shown, we have Chevy. Buick, GMC but not Cadillac, Toyota but not Lexus, no BMW. Not sure that they would be much better,

The problem I have with Dealers is the dealer mark ups, i.e. the costs to process the paperwork ("Oh even if Mr. Penske came in, he would have to pay these charges", Oh give me a break), the expensive tinting etc.
 
Interesting, Buick seems to pretty good in this scale, even better than Cadillac or Lexus
When I was a kid, I seem to remember Buick being a pretty upscale brand, just below a Cadillac. My dad got one, and it was a pretty swanky car, pretty nice interior. Now they are more just a sister brand to Chevy. The dealers might still be trying to carry forward some of that old legacy panache.

At one time GM had Chevy at the low end, Pontiac as the sporty brand, Oldsmobile in the middle, Buick as the entry level luxury brand, one level below the Cadillac. Now at the rate things are going Buick may be merged into Chevy

Well, if the Buick brand still carries some luxury value in the name, don't see why they would merge it with Chevy. They do have quite a few models, all more expensive than their Chevy equivalents.
 
The Chinese market is over 80% of worldwide sales for Buick. During the 1910-1920's, Buick was the Chinese prestige brand and now positions itself as a luxury brand for the Chinese.

Have you seen the Buick Avenir Century GL8 MPV?
 
Buick for most of its life has been positioned as a near-luxury brand: upscale but not as ostentatious as Cadillac. It still tries to be that -- the models that share platforms with Chevy models are all a notch upscale of their Chevy counterparts. The problem is that for decades GM has tried to do luxury on the cheap, just as it tried to sell Pontiac as "sporty" without putting in the effort or expense to make most of its vehicles truly sporty. That corner-cutting eventually killed Pontiac, nearly killed Cadillac, and would have killed Buick if the Chinese market hadn't saved it. The images we've seen of Buick concept EVs look promising, but the proof will be in the execution of the production vehicles. GM finally seems to have realized a few years ago that it could no longer pass off lightly redecorated Chevies as Cadillacs (anyone old enough to remember the Cimarron?). Hopefully the same lesson will be applied to Buick.
