I put my deposit down on an island blue plus about three weeks ago. Salesman has been unable to put order in for blue. I called the toll free number and the gal did some research. Came back that blue will be able to be ordered when the system allows blue to be ordered.

She didn't know when that would be. My salesman was getting a similar answer.

I sent a LinkedIn message to Mike Peyton, "Chief Motorer" Wednesday morning. 47 hours later I got a reply the he believes things are now active for dealer ordering.

If I got a fraction of that kind of response 20 years ago with GM customer service with our Northstar Aurora, or two years ago with our Volvo dealer's shenanigans, I wouldn't be in a Mini, and my wife who has been driving XC90s since 2008 wouldn't be looking at an X3 to replace hers.

I hope he is correct, and blue can be ordered today.

When he was running BMW's US motorcycle operations, Mike Peyton was on Jay Leno's Garage showing off a BMW motorcycle cruising around without a rider. After his success with that project, BMW put Peyton in charge of MINI in the US. It's great to hear he was responsive to your request. Why should it be so hard to order a car that you have to contact a VP to get the color you want?

He ignored my letters begging to pay $1,500 extra to get the cheaper scoopless base MINI Cooper hood on my SE. Maybe I should contact him to find out how I can get a license to make a single MINI Cooper SE T-shirt. Nah, he's already sold me a MINI, so he'll ignore me again.

Haven't heard yet from my salesman that he was able to hit the send button, and his zone rep knew as much as the gal on the toll free number. miniusa.com still has 2022 for the build, so no blue. If they cant order it by next Friday I may just walk and decide if I want a Great Wall model. I am not keen on putting the one series outside again, and the other two stalls are taken.

Island Blue is is available for 2023 UK Level 3 only, so probably Iconic will be required.
They like us foreigners better

Base Signature Trim in the USA is closer to UK Level 2 than Level 1 so if Island Blue needs Level 3 in the UK it is no surprise Signature Plus would be eligible in the USA.

Well they upcycled the checkered fabric seats from 2022 Level 1 and put it in the 2023 Resolute Edition for US buyers.

If you really want island blue you will have to go and snag one from Canada. Quebec drivers have been receiving $13,000 CAD (about $10,000 USD) off the MSRP with their EV rebates.

Same in Colorado. The Canada site is also 2022 and island blue isn't up there yet.

I think BMW is going to lose a sale soon. Still can't order it.

Mike Peyton, where are you?

I, who waited 51 weeks for my SE after placing my pre-production order, believe this car is worth the wait. If you want the gorgeous Island Blue, I, who waited 51 weeks for plain old Moonwalk Grey, believe Island Blue is worth the wait. There IS NO ALTERNATIVE to the SE if you want a fun, small, sporty EV. You won't have to wait 51 weeks.

Re Quebec, I don't believe the warranty follows a car across the border.

Preaching to the choir. Going from red to blue. The boss doesn't care for red after four red 944s. She does like cobalt blue and island blue.

I definitely take issue with "plain old Moonwalk Grey"!!! I really like this plain old color, thank you very much! :D

But of course, if you want the Island Blue, it will definitely be worth the wait. It's really a nice tone.

Sucks that I went to the top, he or his staff got back to me with the wrong information. Sucks that the top is getting bad info.
