Insects attracted to electricity?

Seriously,my Gen1 Volt charge port is frequently infested with some sort of small insects when being charged over night.
It happens on a regular basis and not when the charger has been disconnected.My wife is upset out about this and often asks me to connect and disconnect the charger.And at times I need to use compressed air to clean the charge port area behind the access door.
I wouldn't view this as more than an interesting phenomenon but wonder if others are experiencing something along these lines.

They can be. You never know with all the kinds of pests you can gather in the house.

I heard that ants are attracted to the charge port also.

Any chance there's a drain hole that's blocked?
