Basically, the guy used a Civic key fob and saved $500 over the cost of replacing his lost Clarity key fob. He lost functionality, but the lost functionality is all on HondaLink, so...

Programming another fob can be easy, but haven't seen how to as sometimes you need two in order to add a third one, else it has to be done at the dealer. But if a Civic fob works it could be good/cheap insurance in case one is lost...
