" ... Does anyone know which port East coast VWs would arrive through? NY/NJ ? ... "
Great news on your vehicle!

FWIW, the batch of 5 ID.4s received a few weeks ago here in Chattanooga all arrived from Europe into Jacksonville, FL.

I'd be surprised if it were the only East Coast import location; I seem to recall a post w/ pics of 1st Editions arriving into Baltimore.

VW confirmed my ID.4 left the factory via email on 28 August.
Today 18 Sept3ember, barely 3 weeks later, I received notice my ID.4 is in the US.

Does anyone know which port East coast VWs would arrive through? NY/NJ ?
I'm curious how long it'll take to get to the dealer.

Either Davisville RI, or Baltimore MD. Given the date, the car was probably on SIEM CONFUCIUS, and was just unloaded in Rhode Island.

There is a different ship en route to Baltimore that will have more. I am not sure about west coast.

Once unloaded from the ship, it needs to be inspected for damage before it can be shipped to the dealer. But all of that probably won't take all that long.

BTW, someone on another forum found a site that lets you see shipping manifests, and they went through and counted up the ID.4 that have arrived in the U.S. on various ships. This was from a few days ago, so it doesn't have the most recent

Initially, cars for the west coast entered in Houston, but more recently the ships sometimes unload directly in California. If you know what ship your car is on, you can sort of track it, but it is hard to predict.

There are also non-VW cars on these ships of course - a mix of things - Audi, Bentley, Porsche (generally all under VWAG).

I got a note a week ago saying my second edition awd left the factory. I will add detail and how long it's taking through the process.

I made a reservation on 03Oct21, ordered with additional $400 on 14Oct21 and am not waiting for the next step. The system is indicating a Jan-Feb 2022 delivery date for our AWD Pro S with gradient package. I am interested to hear how close the VW prediction timeline is to what those of you who ordered early are seeing. I did hear the first AWD would be delivered in October 2021. I am hoping that the Jan-Feb 2022 prediction is accurate! However, living in the midwest (Nebraska) it may take a bit longer to travel from port to dealer.

Update on AWD order progress:

How close is the Nov-Dec EDD to what you were originally told when you locked your order? Did the timeline get updated multiple times? Please let us know when it arrives.

From the time I ordered, the timeline was only pushed back once. I ordered an AWD in Feb of 21 and it showed an arrival of October-Nov. I locked that order in July (beware - the email came to lock and went to junk, I almost missed it - the only communication is by email). Now that it is showing that it left the factory, I see an arrival date of Nov-Dec. I ordered a AWD Pro with a tow hitch. I will post updates.

My AWD reservation lock email went into spam, and was cancelled at one point. Finally noticed a reactivation message and locked it on 07/20. Original estimate was Oct - Dec, then slipped to Nov - Dec. Just changed to Dec - Jan 22.

Update on AWD order progress:

FWIW, still not received any "update" email; VW Owner's Portal status remains "Leaving the Factory / EDD Nov-Dec 2021"

So for fun ... we stopped by our local dealer to see what - if any - additional info to which THEY had access:

The sales rep brought up a wealth of additional info via a "dealer" VW website using his smartphone's browser.

Some of the more interesting "data fields" to which he had access:

VIN of our reserved vehicle

It's indeed now enroute Jax from Baltimore (Sparrow's Point) - sailing southbound off the VaCapes - as I type this.

Question about ID.4 and Federal Tax Rebate.

I placed my $100 deposit for an ID.4 AWD on 10/19/21. Expected delivery in 6 months or so. Obviously, I am interested in the $7,500 tax rebate. It is likely the Build Back Better legislation will pass eventually, and that legislation increases the rebate to $12,500 for a US-made EV. I would like to get my car from the Chattanooga plant when it starts producing AWD models in the fall of 2022. I don't mind waiting several months for an additional $5K rebate.

Has anyone seen an option for specifying a US-made ID.4 AWD? Any chance VW might kick in some cash to encourage me to stick with the European-made ID.4 AWD I have on order?

My bad. The proposed legislation has the added rebate for a US-built, union-made EV. The Chattanooga plant is not unionized, so the extra rebate would not apply unless the proposed legislation is modified.

I believe the extra rebate breaks down to: $7500 + $2500 (for cars built in the US) + $2500 (for unionized shops)

Got a note that my ID.4 was in the US - this is ~3 weeks since they say it left the factory. I contacted my dealer because I saw an EV listed on their site that looked suspiciously like mine and I didn't want them selling mine. He said they list vehicles when they hit the port. So - good idea to contact your dealer as soon as you get that VW email.
Now I need to decide on lease or purchase. There is a 50/50 chance that I will be leaving the country in 3 years. Even if not - the lease deal seems good to me. That will be a different thread - happy to do that!
