I filled my Honda Clarity PHEV with HEVF Type 1.0 — is this OK?

I want to know if it’s safe to keep HEVF Type 1.0 in my transmission long-term, or should I switch back to DW-1? Are there any risks to transmission operation or warranty?
Car mileage: ~46,000 miles
Transmission was warmed before fluid change
No issues with shifting noticed so far

Potentially yes to both.

Your best bet would be to perform your own due diligence by contacting a Honda service department and asking or by finding documentation from Honda that confirms backward compatibility with the fluids.

Of course the risk with calling the service department is that the person you end up talking to might say something like “I don’t see why it wouldn’t work” without having the knowledge to make such a statement. On the other hand, if that’s what you want to hear, problem solved.

I searched everywhere, but there’s no detailed technical data for HEVF Type 1.0 available online.
On the bottle, it only says that it’s designed for e-CVT transmissions, the same type used in hybrid models.
