Hondalink registration frustration

Mine started working after I had a second pin emailed to me. The first pin would not work after numerous attempts.

This was on the same day I purchased the vehicle, so I wonder if there really is any information that is forwarded by the dealer to Honda?
 
Hi all, Same problem for me,frustrated with creating 4 digit security pin, called tech support, they took my email and pwd. Asked me to wait for 4 days.

is there anything else i can do?
 
Having read about registration problems on this forum before I bought my car, I was very careful to make sure they had my email address exactly right and then I waited a week before attempting to sign up for HondaLink. Then I was able to do it with no problem.

I think one of the problems is that you can link your phone directly to the car with bluetooth and it seems like you are totally linked, but until you are completely registered you can't get info through the ether (wireless data connection).
 
3FE3FCA8-E274-4835-BA9D-D45D9FEA1A71.webp Honda just released an update to HondaLink for iPhone. The layout is certainly different. Don’t know all of what has changed but I can say that it looks like they fixed the bug where I periodically could not connect to the app over WiFi.
 
I have an Android phone and I received the update yesterday and it looks exactly like what RickSE posted above.

It has an update. You should get it soon or do a manual update.

The UI looks better but there is NO numeric display of battery percentage anymore. Only the bar as posted in the picture above.
Anyone find a way to get the numeric % of battery level in the updated app because the range is really a guesstimate.

P.S. - It now shows the gas tank level as well (bar graph).

No battery percentage? That really is a step down.

I'm not sure it is a step down. Think of all the agonizing on this forum about the fact that it sometimes showed 98 or 99% when it automatically stopped charging. Before I downloaded the app, it showed 99% now it shows full on the bar. Clearly Honda decided that people were getting all bent out of shape about nothing.

Did the updated version fix the issue with the app either crashing to taking a very long time to refresh if you decided to change your charging schedule?

Does the new HondaLink UI work like the battery charge gauge in the car and leave the tip of the bar green even when there is no EV range remaining? I would guess they don't work the same but what is the rationale for the two gauges working differently?

I did a backup just before I upgraded (iOS 12.2) to have an easy way back (I think there actually is some way to go back, maybe not so easy).

But, I think I might like it.

I am going far enough tomorrow to run the battery to the bottom bars. I will try to remember to check the Honda app when I get back and see what it looks like.

Today as promised, I ran the battery down to zero estimated miles and finished my trip home on fumes. I plugged it in and loaded the new version of HondaLink. The end of the bar that represents the SoC is filled in, to represent the residual charge, but the color is red instead of green, with the estimated EV miles as zero. Here is a screenshot. Also, the bar color changes to orange when it gets below some threshold (40% ?)

Overall, the new app is worse than the old in my opinion. Never updated the odomoter too.

I downgraded to the older version mainly to restore the numerical % of battery level.
