Honda throws cold water on electric cars

* For $79,990 (factoring in no rebates that are likely available) you can buy a Tesla Model S with a range of 373 miles.

* For less than $50,000 (again factoring in no rebates) you can get a Tesla Model 3 with 322 miles of range.

The vehicles I listed were within your parameters (40-80k & 85-150 range), not outside. Do you just like to argue?

The last time I checked 322 and 373 were not between 85 and 150.

Would you like to argue about that?

I really do agree, we need to be open that this is a relatively important decision and is beyond simple recommendations based on "certain general stated guidelines" and that they really need to do appropriate research to decide what is best for him or her. I'd stay with trying to give them as much information as he/she is interested in getting, but make it clear that I can't recommend what they should do without a reasonable amount of specific information. I do like sharing how much I like the Clarity and believe in PHEVs based on my own experience.

I agree with your ideas. My observations are that few people give very much thought to any of the decisions they make. And many who seek advice, either face to face or on forums, only want to hear the answer they want to hear, not what might actually be the smartest choice for their situation.

I assumed you were using 85-150 as minimums! Good grief, so you don’t want more than double the range you stated while maintaining the pricing structure you quoted? You’re upset with me for that?? Forgive me, please! I simply illustrated far better offerings for the same price. Of course this puts BEVs in a more favorable light and we can’t have that. ;)

You and I will agree about nothing, that’s clear to me. Actually maybe we can agree on that!
