That's the catch when you go with a big solar company. They sell you a system that takes 20 years to break even, and the entire time, the solar companies have a deal with your electric provider to sell back the power you dont use for profit.
Now I know that not everyone has the know how or ability to do their own DIY system, but it truly is the only way to truly get free power . This is my 2kw system I installed at my place. Will be expanding to 4kw system sometime in winter. Total cost, $1,000.00 +/- $200.
Produces on average: 12-15kwh per day.
My Clarity uses: 10-11kwh from fully depleted...
I would say, I charge for free and still produce enough to cover daily consumption of 3 refrigerators and miscellaneous electronics. Definitely does not cover all my electrical needs but definitely offsets the added EV charging. I charge from Zero miles to Full every day.
13kwh X $0.38per KW from Edison= $4.94/per day that doesn't go to Edison.
Entire system pays for itself in 194 days. Simple but effective.
