With interest in the HUD, this thread is to discuss experiences with it.

The HUD is a translucent screen that pops up on the dashboard in front of the driver when the vehicle is started. You can see through it like a tinted window as well as see what's projected onto it. It's proven to be extremely visible during daylight, even in bright sunlight.

It provides a "third display" in the SE and turns out to be surprisingly useful. I have not customized it at all, except to adjust the position of the contents within the display to suit my height.

Some things it shows (default settings):
  1. Speed limit of current road, and current speed;
  2. When using navigation, it shows guidance to next turn and which lane to be in;
  3. When selecting radio station, it will show a list of stations and highlight as you scroll through them;
  4. When receiving calls it will show the name of the caller.

Unfortunately I've had bad luck at trying to capture photos of the display in use. But MINI does have an overview video.

I was surprised to see there is a "tilt" adjustment for the HUD. Doesn't everyone want the information on the HUD to be perfectly horizontal? Perhaps the projector can slip in its mounting so they added this user-accessible fix?

When my Motoring Advisor stepped me through the various features, they explained the tilt setting can be used to mitigate the effect of polarized glasses/sunglasses making the HUD projection dim/disappear.
