GMC Sierra Denali EV Edition 1 sold out. Did you reserve?

The launch trim, Edition 1, of the GMC Sierra Denali EV sold out in less than 24 hours, proving there's still lots of thirst out there for electric trucks. This one starts at $108,695, so it's not cheap, either.

GMC isn't saying how many Edition 1 trucks it plans to make, but if you managed to get a reservation through, chime in. And maybe tell us why you went GMC Sierra instead of Rivian, Ford Lightning, or Chevy Silverado EV.
 
We did reserve, but if a Canyon EV comes out sooner and has decent range we may prefer that instead.
Our 8.1 ICE 2001 GMC is loose and aging and thirsty. Wife still loves it, doesn't mean we have to get rid of it.

I'm still beside myself to be able to home charge on solar. It's like having a gas pump at the house with free fuel. 48 AMP charging is colossal.
EV truck will be very practical for us.

Neighbor is a executive with Rivian. They have two at their home. Honestly, I can't stand that front end. Getting up in the morning and looking at that won't work for us.
Over-heating and charging bugs still are unresolved with the Rivian as well. It gets brutally hot out here.

Ford Lightning unavailable.
Low range as well. If it's 270 miles range expect 210.
When the Bronco we ordered over a year ago came in the dealer marked it up $3500. Our name was on the build sheet, Ford had our name with the VIN in correspondence with us as well. Ford is telling the dealers to "quit it some more."
Never liked Ford dealers.

Highly unlikely we'll see a Canyon EV before Silverado, but we will see mid-size pickups pretty soon - "Ranger Lightning" and "Maverick Lightning" have already been trademarked protected. I would be surprised if we don't at least see concepts from both Ford and GM in 2023.

Not to convince you to go Ford F-150 Lightning, but Cars.com has about 1,000 new F-150 Lightning listings, starting in the low $40's. Also, on the InsideEVs 70-mph highway range tests, the big battery Lightning went 270 miles (its EPA highway range is 283 miles/combined = 320 miles).

GM Mid-Sized EV Pickups are coming in 2026 per timeline leaks and in accordance to Orion Plant in Michigan readiness.

If by "coming," you mean to showrooms, that means it's quite likely we'll see a close-to-production concept vehicle next year. Woot!
 
When the lightning plugged into the 350kw it knocked us on the 150s offline:

Range has become an eye opener.

PlugShare is a good reference if in-route chargers are working but not 100%.

We have on occasion had to abandon a charging station that’s puked and continue on to the next station.
Now that’s anxiety.
Abandon sounds so dramatic.

In the desert that can be some long stretches to the nowhere everything is a million miles from.

My dad is 102.
I remember he sold our ‘57 Tbird when gas prices hit 30 cents a gallon.
Quit smoking when cigarettes hit 25 cents a pack. Refuse to pay $1 for a 24oz draft beer in Tombstone Az.

He hasn’t driven in 10 years but is astounded gas is almost $7 a gallon in his area.

Free solar charging a elect truck seems sensible to him though.

We were driving around Cupertino and Silicone Valley where free destination chargers are everywhere. The old geezer bought into the idea.
