Getting snow tires put on...anything I need to know

I am scheduled to have snow tires put on the car but not from a Honda dealership and seem to recall someone else having gone to a Tire store for snow tires and they ending up with broken calipers or something or other because they didn't have it done at a Honda dealership who would have conceivably known better. In that case the discount tires ended up more expensive.. Is there anything I need to tell my non-Honda tire guys so they don't break something when putting the snow tires on?
Also I was not planning on getting new rims along with the snow tires but am wondering now if I should. I thought I just bring it in and they take off the current tires and put snow tires on. Why do folks get rims and snow tires instead?

Hmmm, come to think of it, I guess I am going to have to bring my current tires home in the trunk/backseat. I hadn't thought of that.
 
I was going to get new winter tires at Costco, but they couldn't schedule the change for a month (during which VT got record setting November snowfall) and which would have delayed my 1,500 mile trip to the middle for Christmas. Since I afterward read here that they were the folks that broke the sound gizmo on another member's wheels. Since I have no intention of ever changing my tires over myself, I decided to pamper myself and let the dealer put on the new Michelin Ice Xs which they ordered for me and seem to run very nice and quietly.

Maybe you can take tires from Costco to the dealer, and have them mounted by dealer?

I did think of that, but decided that I would use this as an opportunity to "get acquainted" with the Honda service department since I have never had a Honda before.
